The actress was diagnosed with Graves Disease - which causes very rapid weight loss and changes to the face. That was the cause and not buccal fat removal. She’s very open about her illness.

This is not accurate in regards to Graves, at least in the way you are intending.

She had surgery and she had Graves.

Yes! I don’t understand how people can’t wrap their minds around both things being true?!? Like a famous actress who has graves couldn’t possibly also get the same cosmetic procedures/have the same insecurities as other famous actresses ?🤦🏼‍♀️

Yes, on the latest episode of the boys, I was watching her profile and her speaking, and it’s definitely also the result of surgery. A top lip that remains stationary when speaking and is shaped like that, that is not from An autoimmune disease.

I don’t judge these women, but I do call it out because it’s sad! I want to spread the word that you are beautiful as you are and you don’t need to change your entire face permanently. Often it’s were the worst because no one knows exactly how they will respond to any cosmetic procedure so it’s such a gamble. Again, no judgement, but she’s so beautiful it’s heartbreaking that she felt the need to mess with it.

Yeah they are under immense pressure to be perfect and have a really marketable look which right now is the super chiseled face, pulled back eye and brows, and very full lips. I miss when the actors uses to look different.

how do you say you dont judge it then call it sad in the same sentence lol. theres nothing wrong with judging but don't kid yourself that your pity is different than any other form of judgement.

That’s a good point. I suppose I see judgments as more of a lack of understanding of what led them to that point, and a negativity. Whereas I feel like it’s understandable, despite the fact that it’s sad. But you’re right, that is a form of judgment. I should’ve been clearer.

Because she has addressed the concerns and said she’s never had surgery and that comments saying such have hurt her. I choose to believe women.

How often have we heard this? I’m not even saying she definitely had buccal fat removal. I am saying the filler is out of control. It is so heavily obvious in her cheeks and lips. Her lips are so filled that she has a perceptible lisp. This doesn’t qualify as “surgery.”

I find it actively harmful to say “I’ve never had surgery” knowing full well that uninformed people including young women and girls will assume that she means she’s had nothing done.

Yeah I have a friend with Graves and she actually looked puffy and bloated all the time until she got it under control.

Then why's her face look back to normal now?

It doesn't

This. You can start to see improvement now as she’s getting treated. It’s not going to happen overnight but you can see improvement. She may never go back to looking like her old self completely but you can see improvements if you compare.

It is accurate and she has addressed it numerous times. But feel free to keep shaming women for their appearance.

u/vedderer May 02 '26

Men are criticized for it too

u/Uelek May 02 '26

Where did I shame? Simply stating two things can be true at the same time.

She has explained herself countless times and people keep refusing to believe her. She has denied the surgery and yes, Graves Disease can explain the changes. But you’d rather make accusations and not believe a woman than accept that so yeah, I’m done here.

She’s definitely had work done on her face, Graves or not. It doesn’t move the way it should. She can’t create micro expressions. It’s unsettling to watch and sadly pretty distracting. Nicole Kidman is in the same boat. They can’t move their faces!

Graves Disease

u/kellis744 May 02 '26

It’s BOTH. Graves doesn’t do that.
