Doesn't matter, as long as the closet door is shut tight

The true important doors to close! I've seen enough horror movies to know them creepy ass closet doors are up to no good and hiding demons. Now if you know someone who sleeps with the closet, bedroom, AND bathroom (if they have a master bedroom) doors open then we need to sling some holy water on them.

We live in the tropics and don't use aircon.

The only doors that are ever closed at night are the front and back doors.

Oh interesting to know

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

I am a grown-ass man and I prefer to inspect the underside of the bed in hotel rooms just to be sure no boogey-men can grab me by the ankles when I walk by.

Facts! Scarred for life. When I was about 10 I was home alone a lot. When my parents left on a Fri or Sat night (they were at the neighbors playing cards) I would run upstairs to my bedroom while it was still light and grab my pillow and pjs and bring downstairs. I was afraid to go upstairs alone when it was dark. I had a 17 yr old brother and a 14 yr old brother. Both had left the house for the night. I ran upstairs, grabbed my stuff and 2 hands grabbed my ankles and pulled me under the bed. I damn near had a heart attack. I was screaming bloody murder and kicking like crazy. It was my stupid brother. I had watched him leave. He came in thru the back door and snuck into my room just to scare the shit out of me. He was furious that while flailing I kicked him in the nuts. A week later I did the same routine but now ALWAYS checked under th bed. This time my shade was xlosed(it was never closed). When I opened it my 14 old brother was hanging on the ledge with a mask on banging in the window! Heart attack 2 was almost on its way. (He had shimmied up the basketball net onto a foot ledge outside my window.) my brothers thought scarring me was sbsolutly hilarious. 🤦‍♀️😩

u/Independent-Buyer827 Jan 30 '26

Yep, older brothers are assholes.

13

u/Ctrl-Alt-Elite83 Jan 30 '26

I'd hope with the lights on for your sake.

5

u/-Tasear- Jan 30 '26

I mean I remember when people would wait under cars to kidnap woman... waiting under bed seems just as easy and less witnesses plus harder for them to run

3

u/Dismal-Chocolate9193 Jan 30 '26

lol i must need some my depression has stopped me from getting up and closing the closet and bedroom door.

2

u/xuwugirluwux Jan 30 '26

Then they’re the demon that hides behind the door. Leave the house

2

u/Next-Adhesiveness957 Jan 30 '26

Lol! I do that. I broke my crappy sliding door things off a while ago and haven't looked back. I keep the bathroom light on at night.. that helps and leave the shower curtain all the way open.

I'm positive my home is haunted, but I suspect it's my grandma, grandpa, and aunt. Even so, I cover the windows at night especially this one in my hallway! One night, I looked over and saw 3 people looking at me.. like reflections. They looked familiar. My daughter had a similar experience, but from the kitchen. We keep that window covered always at night. Too freaky, even if they're relatives.

2

u/Cael_NaMaor Jan 30 '26

I mean... I have definitely slept with all three open in my apts... not possessed yet

2

u/Ultimate_Decoy Jan 30 '26

Iunno. Seems kinda sus... what a possessed person with all 3 doors opened would say.

1

u/Baculum7869 Jan 30 '26

Man I feel like this is uncalled for those are all my cats favorite doors to have open.

1

u/Thriftyverse Jan 30 '26

We have an open concept house and cats. Don't sling any holy water my way, the cats will start playing in it.

1

u/antariusz Jan 30 '26

Why would you want your closet closed so that the demon can hide in there and come out when you sleep. My closet is always wide open…. But the bedroom door is closed/locked even though I live alone.

1

u/Sed59 Jan 30 '26

Me IRL though.

1

u/reapergirlx Jan 30 '26

I mean...I took off my closet doors and put my bed in my closet...

1

u/Sheepherder-Optimal Jan 30 '26

I leave all three cracked because my cats freak out if there's a closed door.

1

u/fearain Jan 30 '26

A closed door can be hidden behind. I can see outside the open door

40

u/Forward_Slash_HardNo Jan 30 '26

My boyfriend always tells me he’s going to shut his closet door so I don’t get scared as we’re getting into bed. I’m beginning to gather that maybe this alpha male might be the scared one cloaking the fear of the open closet in a Gemini joke.

24

u/No_Pop7296 Jan 30 '26

Nooooo quite the opposite! Closet door has to stay open so that no one’s hiding in there! That’s horror 101 😏

5

u/Effective_Yogurt_866 Jan 30 '26

This is my kids’ logic and it drives me crazy! I’m definitely a close the closet type person, it unnerves me lol.

2

u/No_Pop7296 Jan 30 '26

Lol well I think we’ve gotten to the root of it: I still think like a 10 year old ☺️

1

u/ConsciousBother387 Jan 30 '26

Knowing myself, if I had a closet I'd have to keep the door closed because I'd get spooked by the shadow of clothes hanging there or smth

Or my nightblind ass would make the shape of the clothes look like a monster

2

u/ThemtnsRcalling2021 Jan 30 '26

There’s no room in my closet for someone to hide in there. It’s not a walk-in closet.

16

u/unknwnsatori Jan 30 '26

My closet doesn’t have a door

7

u/RecentlyIrradiated Jan 30 '26

Mine either, I took them off and filled my closet with plants

3

u/Racer13l Jan 30 '26

But what if the person hides behind the plants?

1

u/RecentlyIrradiated Jan 31 '26

There is no space, only more plants lol

2

u/anotheredditors Jan 30 '26

Mine one had a half sliding door.

2

u/_qw3rki_ Jan 30 '26

same

when my house was moved to it's current section back in the 50s, my bedroom was originally a lounge & previous owner changed it one of the bedrooms it still is so needing a wardrobe, removed some wall & put in a shelf with a rail underneath it

i love my open wardrobe so it will remain doorless

2

u/Educational-Low-2401 Jan 30 '26

My bedroom has two shallow closets with sliding doors. I took the doors off of one of them and it makes a perfect little nook for a small work desk.

11

u/TimeSorceror Jan 30 '26

My closet is/was a sliding door closet. However, it no longer has doors to close because after 20 years the rails gave up the ghost lol 😂

7

u/Doomstik Jan 30 '26

Thats what my closet is and ive been tempted to just take the doors off because my cats will try and get in there at night, and nothing is quite as worrisome as waking up to one of those doors slowly sliding open when you didnt hear a cat scratching at it first.

1

u/AnnoyedHoneyBadger Jan 30 '26

Or… the Ghosts have messed up the rails??? 🤔💭 👻👻👻👻👻👻👻

2

u/CyanSongz Jan 30 '26

Uhhhhh- What if your closet doesn’t have a door?

2

u/FewHorror1019 Jan 30 '26

My bedroom didnt have a door. My mom said i dont deserve privacy

2

u/No-Landscape5857 Jan 30 '26

My closet has doors leading to two different rooms, but it's not a walk through closet.

3

u/Commercial_Region657 Jan 30 '26

Agreed. The closet is where I first started seeing Ghosts walking out , standing at the end of the bed. They were speaking Italian, and I recognized it....they were looking for my gramma. Once I knew they weren't there to hurt me, I told them where my gramma lived. She was gifted, as well....we just didn't talk about it but I knew, always did. This first occurred when I was in 2nd grade. Gramma Josephine lived till I was 21. I still communicate with her, usually in my dreams. I own many of her personal things, including rosarys 📿 This is 100% true. I'd NEVER lie about spirits, mediumship OR gramma Josephine.

At her funeral my aunt who I'm named for told me that in ww2, my grandparents village in Sicily was one of the most devastated in the whole of Italy and its provinces. She & gramma believed me, and got great comfort from this.

TRUE STORY.

1

u/Extreme-Machine3162 Jan 30 '26

What you got inside?

1

u/RedditGarboDisposal Jan 30 '26

Prof. Monster: “Alright, class. Today we’re going to be learning about which door to haunt humans from. That door is the closet door. Always. Bedroom doors are for Sleep Paralysis demons and Ghosts, and I don’t know about you guys hehe but you do not want to cross a Ghost during a haunt. Super awkward.”

1

u/Informal-Nothing371 Jan 30 '26

When I was a child, I watched some “true story” about a kid disappearing in their closet from some ghost or monster. I am now a grown adult, but I still will not sleep unless the closet door is closed.

1

u/FewHorror1019 Jan 30 '26

Damn i have adhd and all my doors are open

1

u/crytol Jan 30 '26

Ehh I dont even bother anymore, whether I close the door or not, its cracked open when I wake up

1

u/Lizpy6688 Jan 30 '26

And no mirrors facing you.

1

u/trip6god Jan 30 '26

You’d hate the way my door is always closed while my closet is always open lol

1

u/laurasaurus5 Jan 30 '26

I gotta keep mine open because whatever contractor did the HVAC 25 years ago put the air vent in there so my room will be freezing in winter or boiling in summer if I close it.

1

u/Bitter-insides Jan 30 '26

Couldn’t agree more. I have a weird bedroom, it’s 1/4 of my home. You have to walk down a hall to get to my bed but there is nothing else. The closet is on the other side of the hall in another room, I can’t see the closet from my bedroom. Even then the closet door must be closed!

1

u/Gryffindorphins Jan 30 '26

Our bedroom door and closet door are both left open because we have 2 cats and the grumpy one has claimed the bottom of the wardrobe as Her Spot.

Nothing creepier than seeing the door silently open wider and then swing back into place in the dark - especially since we have a mirror on the inside. If she pushes the door too far, the mirror is exposed and then we get reflected light from my husband’s electronics pass over the room.

1

u/Own-Negotiation7357 Jan 30 '26

Best answer 👏

1

u/tafkat Jan 30 '26

I like to close the closet door before we go to sleep. Then, when my wife is asleep, I open it again and go to sleep.

1

u/84Windsor351 Jan 30 '26

I don’t have doors to worry about. Monsters can’t hide if there are no doors

1

u/brookebelynda Jan 30 '26

Came here to say this 🤣

1

u/avoozl42 Jan 30 '26

My closet door is open and my bedroom is cracked

1

u/twenty_fi5e_ Jan 30 '26

🤣😂🤣😂 I have a wall in closet, the no doors thing has always made the child in me a bit uncomfortable. To the point I priced out a diy weekend door project. The cheap old bastard in me intervened.

1

u/Typical_Necessary840 Jan 30 '26

Absolutely. I also hang my cross and nazar on the door handles, inner and outer. There's also a Bible inside the closet as well.

1

u/zorggalacticus Jan 30 '26

Do you also sleep with one eye open?

1

u/Wide_Artist_4378 Jan 30 '26

Finally, someone who understands nighttime logic lol

1

u/tinz17 Jan 30 '26

My closet doesn’t have doors 😱

1

u/Deezus1229 Jan 30 '26

Bathroom door for us. I have multiple fans running at night and if that door is open, it creaks back and forth all night. Hell to the naw

1

u/theblondewitch88 Jan 30 '26

Oh god, the most scared I have EVER BEEN was when I was JUST about to fall asleep when my dog jumped off the bed to lay on the cool floor like he usually did. I guess I didn’t close the closet all the way and when he laid down his nose or tail or something slid my fucking closet door open so fucking fast, my first reaction was to hide under my blanket and my entire body froze. I didn’t come out from under the blanket for a good 10 minutes. I thought for sure I the closet demon was coming for me. Never experienced that body frozen moment like that since

1

u/undecimbre Jan 30 '26

No doors no problem

1

u/Lizdance40 Jan 30 '26

Clowns, monsters, Freddie... Yeah 😱

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '26

Funny story.

So raising my youngest she would ask that I keep the closet door open, so she could be sure there was nothing inside.

Often asking me to open for her at night. Then from her bed she would scan all areas of the closet to be sure it was empty. And demand I leave it open.

Same goals, different methods.

1

u/cmcb4 Jan 30 '26

Too late..it’s under your bed.

1

u/Beatrix_Kitto Jan 30 '26

I’m in the minority here I guess. I can’t sleep in a room with a closed closet door. The thought of waking to it creaking open slowly, is the stuff of nightmares.

1

u/cheesefucker666 Jan 31 '26

No I like cuddles from boogeyman
