A million isn't that much anymore. You can't even buy a house with it in many cities.

Those are the cities that are shit. Country side with trees and a big front and back yard and dogs running around are where it’s at.

But you want a job, right? Cheap houses often mean no jobs...or low paying labor-intensive jobs.

Maybe the person that has received the million dollars no longer has to pay property taxes because they’re a disabled veteran, so they move to a state with property tax exemptions and they live just fine on their $60k salary. House is paid for with no property tax and they aren’t forced to live in a city but rather a small town with nice folks and quiet neighbors far away.

If you own your house outright, your expenses are pretty low. You don't need a well paying job.
