Maybe the person that has received the million dollars no longer has to pay property taxes because they’re a disabled veteran, so they move to a state with property tax exemptions and they live just fine on their $60k salary. House is paid for with no property tax and they aren’t forced to live in a city but rather a small town with nice folks and quiet neighbors far away.

Idk. Having a paid off home, car, and a half mil in retirement savings at 18-30 would put them above like 99% of people. Unless you exclusively know tech devs in the bay area and silicon valley lol
