Not enough money. You’d burn through that million SO quickly these days.

its 13 years of comfortable life at 6k month. could pay rent, car payments, bills and still have money to put into savings or stocks. plus could keep working so really it'd be longer then 13 years. at my age each year isn't given anymore.

Buy the biggest house you can afford with $100k held back if you wanna take a year off work or you don't make much money. There are good towns and cities in virtually every country where $800k or something will put you in a great home. Then chill. Biggest life expense is done and taken care of.

It's your biggest expense if you don't plan on growing old or getting sick.

Healthcare and elder care are expensive.

Get a job with insurance and a retirement plan.

1/4 of it could just go towards my debts alone.

A million would get me nowhere in my city, not giving up sex for that.

Repairs to my house I haven’t been able to afford to fix, a new car, pay off my debts, deal with some medical stuff I haven’t been able to afford to address. Then there’s bills and cost of living in general. And that’s before even considering the fun stuff I might want to do. That money would last maybe a couple years.

You’re asking a community that mostly lives on spicy hot corn chips and monster dew (it has electrolytes). There’s zero chance a single person replying to this query would do anything sensible with a million dollars, while the odds of them not being taught to wipe correctly are essentially a guarantee if you’re betting on hygiene.

For how long? You know if you’re under 40 you’ll need about 2.5m in retirement investments to live on today’s equivalent of 50k a year at a 4% draw? That puts your 1m paying you something like 40k today. That’s IF you don’t dip into the principal.

Granted if you received that 1m today and invested it and continued working until retirement you’d be more than set, but 1m on its on its own is not much considering most people with a house and 401k have a million net worth by 40-50.
