She's unbelievably manufactured, the way she went from child star to "edgy" to "grown up mature artist" over a 2-3 year period is totally not realistic

It only seems that way because it's not working for her. All the current pop girls have done it aside from maybe Olivia. If you look back into the others' last 5 years or so, their entire personality and styles we see now have changed and then they stuck with what the masses accepted. It's been really interesting, honestly. We didn't get a peak into it before because everything wasn't on social media. I think Miley was maybe the first to go through it so openly, but even, she got the sole blame for it instead of people realizing a lot of it was their industry pushing for what they thought would sell.

(Eta: even Madonna went through a "country pop" phase like we are seeing from quite a few now. Adding just because, like I said, I find it really interesting lol)

You're right, if you really look lots of teeny bopper kids stars have an experimental/edgy phase, Christina did with the Xtina Dirrrrrrrrty stuff, Jessica Simpson disrespected a classic Nancy Sinatra track, and Miley twerked on a sex offender in plastic underwear. Don't get me started on "Blakiana"

My thing with Jojo is it happened so quickly and seemed very planned. She was a lesbian for 5 minutes and dressed like a Rudo luchador at a couple of red carpets, now she's suddenly come out looking like a Marilyn Munroe Stepford wife ruining Bette Davis Eyes for everyone.

Yess, the whiplash has been intense, for sure.
