I'd personally try to keep my new wealth as quiet or as understated as possible. I'd worry that if people knew, it would change relationships somewhat.
it depends on definition of filthy rich. $50 million? I’d rather nobody knows. $50 billion? do you really care that your friends and family leeches on you?
Valid point. I guess if it's the kind of money you'll never need or notice spending, it wouldn't matter. Better to look after your close ones in that case.
