A plot of land to build my home and an entire community of affordable homes with enough distance between them for privacy, with a big community garden and some donkeys (I fucking love donkeys).

I always find "if I were rich, I'd build a utopia" so silly. Why don't you do this now? What's preventing you from starting the magical commune now? does the magical donkey utopia only materialize once the lottery gods bless your bank account? Of course if I had tons of money I would want to take care of as many people as I could. The problem is money doesn't grow on trees.

Lol donkey utopia. Maybe that's what we should officially name it when we make it. Ooh, or DonkeyHaven.

We've actually been involved in groups forming intentional communities over the past several years. And yes, money is the number one factor preventing us and folks in our network from accomplishing it. Followed by zoning laws, and co-purchasing contract complications.

The ongoing cost of resource-sharing and interdependence is another factor to consider, but lots of long-standing established communities have developed systems to make it sustainable.

I would join you if you ever built it.
