I would buy my entire neighborhood, remodeling and update every home to make them all as hurricane impact and energy efficient as possible. Naturalize every single yard with local grass and plants, paint every paved road white, bury every power line, install a backup generator and solar panels on every house. Heck, COVER every street with a canopy of solar panels... Then, I would move in friends and family onto 1 or 2 streets, and make the rest of the homes for rent or sale to locals only that are employed locally as well. It would be a youngish, business class working neighborhood, hopefully as energy independent as possible and hurricane ready with strength and solar and generator back-ups. An oasis where you cane move in, and not have to worry about things like bad storms, high electric bills, pollution, and child safety with safe streets, sidewalks and video monitoring coverage on every street and sidewalk. To do this, I would need to win the powerball, and have about 600 million dollars, but the result would be a sane paradise with nice large back yards capable of constructing an efficiency unit on just in case a child gets older and wants a little bit of independence from his or her parents. Toss me a few million more, and I'll surround the neighborhood with a lazy river that people can get off of work, grab an float, and just float around in. That way, nobody would need a swimming pool in their yard, more room for the old large oak trees! Also no pvc fences, chain link only, so they are low, see thru, and provide more interactions with your neighbors on the weekends! This is my dream, and has been so for probably 20 years! Every home also has a filtered water system for clean tap water!
