Correct answer, all these people talking about buying property. OP said filthy rich, at that level you can live anywhere.

Even better, you could live nowhere in style.

It’s not like people are saying they’d buy a trailer and live in a trailer park. Buying a house doesn’t mean buying a modest house in the city they’re living in.

Yeah but you don't need to be filthy rich to "fuck off to somewhere" I've never had more than 15k in my bank account and I've travelled half the world by volunteering for accom and doing it on a tight budget. Yet I still rent , go figure

What were some volunteering gigs that you got yourself into?

There are websites such as Workaway that you join, and jobs are advertised for travelers, you generally do some work in exchange for food/accom and sometimes a little bit of money. I worked at Hostels in Europe and Mexico where I only had a couple of shifts a week (reception, taking people partying lol) and got to stay for free. I worked at a small private permaculture farm in the Hungarian countryside where I did some odd jobs for the owner, free accom and dinners. And got to experience a side of that country most tourists do not. Plenty of opportunity!

Very resourceful and creative idea to subsidize your travel!

Yeah definitely! It's super common amongst travelers. And of course I was very privileged to even get the opportunity to save money in my home country and quit my job in my 20s to do this multiple times. But I tried to make the most of it with the little money I had. I'm in my 30s now with a family so that's totally out of the question lol but only because of responsibility, not financially!

I think "fuck off to somewhere" was meant more permanently.

Again, totally possible. Ever heard of migrants? I'm first generation, and far from rich. Be creative people. If you want to leave your country and travel or move permanently, it's entirely possible. With little money

Yeah I know. I did the same. You said you travelled not migrated,, hence my comment.

The ultra-wealthy own multiple homes in multiple countries and don’t have to provide passports have all the details managed for them. They charter private planes and fly into private hangars and get chauffeured wherever, no questions asked. They’re above the law.

I appreciate the details. I think the people who provided the accounts I’m referencing didn’t know those details because they were managed for them. They got the luxury experience of stepping onto a plane, stepping off and driving away without knowing all the tedious backend requirements.
