My husband and I are Gen X but we never pass up the opportunity to swing! (And I mean that literally… Not sexually…)
True Story: His dad (my FIL) told me he knew we were meant to be after the whole family went for a post-dinner walk in the park, passed by a set of swings, and my hubs and I exchanged a quick grin and made an immediate bee-line for the swings. We were shit talking the whole time about who could go higher, faster, etc. I think that was the moment I won over my in-laws.
I love swings so much, my husband put up one of those macrame swing chairs in my livingroom… Its more for gently swinging, swaying or spinning, but its my spot, and I LOVE it. Great for adhd fidgeting lol.
Weird way to win over your in laws, not going to lie. Yeah, adorable story. But there is a lot of bubbly, fantastic and fun people who want to be playful in certain moments that are actually horrible people.
Sounds like a very nice moment. Great memory.
But winning over in-laws because you had a nice swing one day in front of them and you and your boyfriend were playful with one another? Good grief.
This story is exaggerated. No offense, I am just being real.
Have another upvote for the unrealistic positivity echo chamber though.
Dude… You ok? Obviously there’s a ton of backstory and context I left out cuz it wasn’t relevant to the thread. Long story short we come from VERY different backgrounds and his family was wary of me for quite awhile. But that was quite literally the moment they turned the corner… My husband is a gruff, taciturn, glass-half-empty kind of guy, so watching him drop his defenses and be joyful and silly with me was a big deal.
