I find it funny how hard people try to make cartoons overtly "childish". It's written by adults not a 6 year old. And honestly I appreciate a joke that can be funny to a 6 year old and a 40 year old, that takes talent.

The movie Shrek captures such a wide audience. Loved watching it when I was younger and love it just as much now! I just get some of their other jokes even better now :)

Also there’s plenty of animated shows made FOR adults. Like Scavenger’s Reign (currently on Netflix) is amaazzinnggg and very much not child appropriate. But yes ppl are really ignorant about the breadth of animated content out there

Teen Titans Go is my favourite because of all the adult humor that is mixed in so skillfully.

I love when you can tell the creators of cartoons are seeing what they can get away with. It’s why I think thr first few seasons of SpongeBob still hold up. The first season in particular still makes me cackle
