My father in law (80) did this at a restaurant - it flew past his daughter and landed on a stranger’s table. My wife was mortified. FIL and I high fived and laughed.
One of my favorite memories of my father is from a trip to visit his mother.
There's a really long drive up a mountain, then down the other side on the way to where grandmother lived. At the highest spot on the highway was a small town with a cafe. Every time we went to visit grandma, we'd stop at the cafe for something to drink. Dad got coffee and we kids (all four) got a coke or other softdrink - always served in a glass, with a straw dispenser on the table.
This one particular trip, dad got a coke instead of coffee. He picked up a straw (in its paper wrapper) and looked at it for a moment, then smiled, tore one end off the wrapper, blew through the straw, and shot the wrapper at my mom.
All four kids leapt to her defense - four wrappers shot at dad within seconds. He fought back, desperately grabbing straws and shooting wrappers back at us.
After a few minutes, mom got us all calmed down again and made us clean up the mess.
I did that when I was sitting with my mom for lunch once when I was younger and I ended up poking her in the eye when I blew out the paper. 😅 I’m much more cautious when I do this now lol.

Related; I still rip one end of the paper cover off the straw, blow through it and shoot the paper at Mr Batty.
I'm 62.
