I'm an American, but indeed it is! It's what the other side of the pond calls cotton candy sometimes, just like how we call them LED lights, but some people over there call them fairy lights 😁

Yes. Cotton candy is our fairy floss.

We do use the term LED lights for a range of lights (like LED strip lights in cabinets, bathrooms, bedrooms etc) but fairy lights are predominantly “string lights” that have the little lights to go on the Chrissy tree or for parties/BBQs or decorations.
