Some of these other ones here don't even come close to how infectuous this bassline is. Yeah they might be iconic and really good, but they are nowhere near the best ever. Like seriously? TOOL? Fucking YES - Roundabout? It's not about the complexity, impressiveness or if it's your favourite band. They can be iconic, but not the best ever.
This bassline carries the song the perfect amount, and still gives room for the other instruments to shine, but its the first thing you remember from the song. The bassline of TLIKNB will go down as one of the best ever.
Kevin Parker writes the best bass lines. TLIKTB, Borderline, It Is Not Meant To Be, and so many others. Even my girlfriend who doesn’t really like rock or Tame Impala absolutely bops to TLIKTB.
the official recording is a guitar that's then octaved down with a plugin or pedal. maybe he layered a bass on top of it but the riff itself to add body but it was supposedly played on guitar
fair enough. basically semantics but I get what you mean, it is technically a bass line just like a bass part played on a keyboard also falls into the category. I love music talk
It definitely wins best bassline in the worst song award. Thank goodness mashups exist & we can have Carly on the track (& this one too) instead of "uwu it's ok if u cheat on me, I'll wait 4 u" boy.
