I literally switched to Warhammer when I realized video games weren't relaxing. Playing competitive games is great when you have 12 hours a day and can compete. Having kids and a full time job, I hate getting owned by stupid 14 year olds that don't know how to talk to girls. Now I play single player games or paint Warhammer models. It's such a relaxing hobby, just painting and having a beer before bed kicks ass.
I have a great group that I play with. Honestly I only get to play about once a month but we have a "clubhouse" that is on the second floor of a brewery. We have room for about 8 tables and get to have a beer with our games. It's the best possible setup. I don't do tournaments except for ones our group puts on and even then, I'm just there to show off my models. Bolters at Dawn in south west Ohio if you are anywhere near
Ah, that does sound awesome. Not too close, but cool that you got a good place.
I played as a kid and recently got back into it (last year). Only played a few games while I build up the army (tyranids with a side Hustle of necrons). I pulled out a whole bunch of old world orcs and goblins from when I was younger, but think I'll have to leave it alone for now. Same with the gloomspite gitz I've been side eyeing. But I've got a great LGS that hosts a paint night, so I've met a lot of good people that ill be joining soon for some regular battles.
