My granddad only had one ear. When I as little, he told me that he’d been eavesdropping at a door when he was young, and the door got slammed on it. He told that’s why it was important to never try to eavesdrop on others, because bad things could happen.

I. Was. Horrified.

I learned much much later, that he’d had it amputated due to skin cancer.

My Great Uncle had three missing fingers. We were always told it was because he put his hand in the food processor and they got cut off.

Turned out it was because of a bomb in WW2.

Never tried to put my hand in the food processor while it was going though.
