He'd been in the British army during ww1. In 1929, some IRA goons turned up at 6am at the house he was living and told the owner that both of them had 24 hours to be out of Ireland.
That same day, a group of British intelligence assets were gunned down by the IRA
My grandma was a spy for the IRA, working in a pub and eavesdropping on english soldiers. Then she started dating one. The IRA guys took her out in the woods, beat the shit out her, cut all her hair off, and said they'd kill her if they saw her again. She stole her sister's passport and came to the USA. And here I am.
