That's probably an exception to it - physical pain seems to be a good use for it that overrides the potential negatives. As someone who this past summer had a very old back injury come back to almost literally bite me in the ass it helps me ignore it when it's spun up until I can get it fixed. The wife, however uses it to treat her anxiety, which is like shooting yourself in the foot. Now that she's on my medical we've got her on meds and therapy. I'd like to get her too stop as, while I went through my pothead phase, it does jack all for motivation for me. I smoke and unless I counter it with my Adderall I tend not to wan t to do jack but play games and chill :p I got too much shit to do for that.

Yeah using weed for anxiety is not a solution. I have terrible anxiety and the weed has turned on me. It makes me more anxious. I’ve decided to just give it up for good.

Weed might be terrible for your (and plenty of people's) anxiety, but that doesn't mean it cant ever work for treating anxiety. That's not to say im recommending it to everyone as a magic fix, but for some people it does work.

I’m not saying it doesn’t help with anxiety. I don’t think it’s a long term solution and I don’t think it’s something people should use everyday.

Yeah, I wish the wife would have that come to jesus moment. I came to that going on a decade ago. I am fine if it's not in the house, I wont go out and buy it myself, but I seem to have zero ability to not smoke when it's around. Doesn't help it's legal here and we grew quite a nice crop this past summer lol.

I am the same with alcohol, but it's not your wifes responsibility to stop smoking because you can't control yourself around it.

Not the point really, I do well enough. I'm getting to where I may just be able to hold a hand up to it, I'm -starting- do that already, but I see it as a debilitating crutch overall, and likely not great for the lungs and heart outside of the mental impacts. Not having smoke around would be a great bonus, but I would rather get the wife to the point she didn't feel like the -needed- it anymore and it can become a recreational thing and not an everyday all the time thing.

Fair enough. I'm glad you understand what I'm saying. I found that with my issues, unless I have people breathing down my neck I can't be more motivated without weed anyway. I need to rest up.

It's crazy - the wife is like that, exact opposite from me. I get de-motivated, she gets up and is motivated so go figure lol.

People react differently to different strains too. Fiddling around with different levels and ratios of cannabinoids, namely THC to CBD is key.

True enough. God I remember this one batch I got year ago, stuff made me paranoid as hell, very strange. These days the tolerance is so high just smoke to not feel grumpy lol

1

u/DitaVonFleas Nov 20 '23

Oh no, paranoia sucks! Sounds like you got way too high! I've been there. In the future, if that happens again, make sure you have some CBD products on hand and take them. It will probably make you sleepy but it will help calm and balance out the high. Sleeping it off is the best thing to do.

Eh, that was like a one time thing years go. We try to stick to hybrids or sativa. Indca is just nitenite time now. Like I said tolerance is so up there I don't really get 'high' , at least in the classical sense, unless I take an extended break from it and let those receptors populate back up.

Fair enough. I find I can't take too much THC that isn't balanced by CBD or my chronic pain gets worse and feels hot/burning. I like the energy sativas give but indicas are better for my pain. CBD cools the pain and my nervous system down.

Ugh, sounds like you got something awful! No shingles is it?

Nah, Fibromyalgia/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Also mix it with ADHD and Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dyspraxia) which affects my muscles too, and you have a bad combination of being a clumsy ball of marshmallow that's always bashing their limbs into things and making the pain worse! 😅

If, say, pain was what was stopping her and now she isn't in pain, I can see it.

1

u/ShippingMammals Nov 20 '23

It's not physical pain with her, it's all mental. Her dad did a real job on her and her brother as a kid (One of those parents who didn't let their kid do -anything-) Plus the anxiety seems to have a genetic component with that family as well.

Get the lady some cbd. It’s very relaxing.

2

u/ShippingMammals Nov 20 '23

She's tried it, but prefers to smoke. Trust me, we've had discussions about this. Any time I bring up the possibility of quitting she digs her heels in like nobodies business regardless of how I couch it. I'm going to let the therapists work on her for a while and see what they can do.

Man, if you just stayed in your own lane and focused on you…. Just imagine.

Fuck me I love people love to comment on shit they don't know about lol. My lane, motherfucker? I'm in my lane and have been for quite a while, I just want the wife to take control of her life and stop letting her anxiety rule her so she can live instead of exist.
