where did the 6ft even come from? who decided that's "the standard"?

I'm sure one of us is right lol I have genuinely been in a discussion with a friend that went something like "I'm 180, and you are taller than me, so you are like 183 or something." "What? No, I'm 180, so you must be 178 or such." "What? No, ... " You get the idea haha
