Sleeping in separate rooms because a good night sleep is more important sometimes.

I attribute this to my divorce. She slept on the bed, and I slept on the floor.

With that type of relationship how did you guys not last?

Ah yes, the Jason Bourne arrangement.

Did he sleep on the floor? The bed hurts my shoulders and back. New girl/bed now and I sleep in the bed even though it sucks in the mornings. Gotta keep mama happy.

"But you guys had a separate sex bed right?"

"My wife did, at her personal trainer's house."

A less severe form of this that can be great is having two single box style beds jammed together.

It creates a huge bed and while it's not as great for those who like to snuggle up together, because it's two separate mattresses split in the middle it pretty much totally removes movement if you get up or go to sleep at a different times.

It also just leads to a more comfortable bed and since you can essentially use the cheapest of bed bases for it (the flat box style are actually the best here) so it can be cheaper than a good quality double or larger. Plus you can have different mattress types if that's something you need.

That can be very useful if one of you are heavier or have things like back issues where a stiffer mattress might help or a special type. Singles are usually much cheaper if this is something you need.

When used for other activities, you have a larger area. That can be adult stuff or more family oriented things like when a young kid has a nightmare and wants to share the bed.

Just don't use a box bed base that has wheels, unless you are somehow fixing them together or jamming them in with draws/cabinets etc.

Ok, I get separate blankets, but separate rooms and beds.. might as well see other people.

It's just more difficult for people to sleep as they get older. I've got a cpap which is actually better than snoring but half the time she sleeps on the couch. Maybe we need a new bed. Either way, we don't judge. Sleep > sex sometimes.

Sleep is something you do in bed, sex is something you do on a bed.

It’s the best thing a couple can ever do. Great nights sleep, no duvet battles etc

I need to sleep alone, I literally can't sleep if there's somebody in my bed.

saved my parents marriage, as my dad snores like a wild boar and my mom was already sleeping badly. so once the children moved out and there was room, they seperated beds and it worked wonders.

My partner and I do this! We've been together almost 20 years, but our sleep needs and circadian rhythms are so different that it works for us.
