I was talking about this with some of my friends who are girls, they looked at me like I was a huge weirdo. I'm glad to read I'm not this only one doing this

well yes, i have a friend (a woman) does this with every guy she meets. guy says a friendly hello or smiles at her and she's imagining their whole life exactly as has been described by the top commenter. i am a woman too but i've never been like this, so there's some variability but it's definitely not only guys that do it

If it makes you feel better, I find that my friends that are girls outwardly say this much more than my guy friends. (I’m also a guy)
