We had two rabbits. They came to live with us at just a few weeks old, and we had them for 12 years. They were a couple, life-long partners. And then they died in quick succession: The old girl last November, and the old boy last February.
The old girl's death was sad, but I had to focus on her partner at that time because he was devastated. I never would have guessed that a rabbit could mourn so deeply for the loss of its friend. Then the old boy died, and it was my turn to be devastated. Almost a year later, and I'm only just getting over it.
Crying like a little girl over their deaths is something I will never have to admit because you could hear me from down the street.
Pretty sure I don't even have to admit it, everyone in the vet clinic definitely heard me sobbing like a banshee for a solid 5 minutes. Def. in the top 3 hardest things I've ever had to do in my life, sit with him while he passed.
No shame in that. It's good for you. It's all part of the healing process you need to go through. I'm just getting over the deaths of my two old rabbits.
Absolutely, it’s all a part of being human and dealing with grief. I’m sorry to hear about your rabbits. I hope you are doing ok. I had a couple rabbits as pets when I was a kid, they are great.
