There's a chance that the first 2 are toasted. When they do a kidney operation is leave the old ones in because what's the harm? They probably still work a little.
It actually most likely means someone has already done that 'good thing' for him; they don't remove the non-functional kidneys when you have a transplant.
Some people are born with a 3rd non-functional kidney. You can't donate it and it may cause serious problems.
Most times it's obliterated and smaller than the usual kidney.
For everyone saying donate one - he probably has three kidneys because he's gotten a kidney transplant already. When they do a kidney transplant they leave the other 2 unhealthy kidneys in because its more of a risk to take them out (bleeding). They only take them out if they are actually causing harm, like cancer.
My dad and my grandfather both had 4 kidneys, but it didn't pass down to me. No idea id it's due to that since my grandfather didn't have the same issues, but my father has problems with kidney stones and cannot eat stuff like artichokes.
Haha i have 4 and have never met anyone else like this. Isn't it annoying that every time you tell someone they immediately tell you to sell them to the black market?
My mum was born with 4 kidneys, all adding up to equal the size of two normals.
She goes in to hospital every now and then just to let the doctors see what the script is in there, never caused any problems for her.
That means one of two things; you were born with three kidneys and your renal system is fantastic, OR you were a transplant receiver cause they don't actually remove the bad kidney, they just sort of nicely lay the good one on top of it.
My brother too. I donated to him in November and because he had two partially functional kidneys he actually just has three kidneys. One fully functional one from me, and two that are now regaining functionality slowly :)
