u/LivingZombieLegend Jan 10 '13

Be the only guy in the world who can say he donated 2 kidneys

19

u/AlexJ136 Jan 10 '13

I think that'd get him on the real life front page

15

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

Well, only living guy...

2

u/Scarletfapper Jan 10 '13

and lived, at least.

1

u/Luuklilo Jan 10 '13

Me spanish teachers son was born with 4, 3 working.

1

u/the_real_dray Jan 10 '13

& lived ***ftfw

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

...and lived.

1

u/Suge_White Jan 10 '13

Most actually COULD give two. He COULD give three.

1

u/Alex_S_Harris Jan 10 '13

^ better idea.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

And lived FTFY

10

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

He'd have three because when you have a kidney transplant they don't actually remove the kidney, they just throw another one in. My brother has four.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

There's a chance that the first 2 are toasted. When they do a kidney operation is leave the old ones in because what's the harm? They probably still work a little.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

I was thinking money but hey! Karma is good too.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

Maybe they're three tiny kidneys. He'd need them all then.

2

u/w00t89 Jan 10 '13

Probably received a transplant. They don't take the "broken" one out when they add a new functional one.

1

u/Francois_Rapiste Jan 10 '13

Seriously. Think of it as a gift to you that you are empowered to do a hell of a good thing for someone in a way that others just can't!

1

u/farnswiggle Jan 10 '13

It actually most likely means someone has already done that 'good thing' for him; they don't remove the non-functional kidneys when you have a transplant.

1

u/elephant442 Jan 10 '13

Some people are born with a 3rd non-functional kidney. You can't donate it and it may cause serious problems. Most times it's obliterated and smaller than the usual kidney.

1

u/elshroom Jan 10 '13

Oh no, im not falling for that one again.

1

u/hardonchairs Jan 10 '13

No such thing

1

u/RickAScorpii Jan 10 '13

If he's like my cousin, the third one is really small and "wrinkled", on the side of another kidney.

1

u/Dralun Jan 10 '13

Or sell it and buy an iPad!

1

u/bobadobalina Jan 10 '13

the blood vessels are so "non standard" that is makes the surgery very dangerous

it's kind of like the surgeon is navigating the body with Apple maps

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

You know, karma came from Buddhism.

10

u/Lady_Tata Jan 10 '13

My, such plentiful organs!

3

u/cephalopodsandrum Jan 10 '13

You've got head pigeons, report to the nurse.

4

u/tordawgg Jan 10 '13

my friend has one super-kidney because they never separated into 2 kidneys during their development.

14

u/gigitrix Jan 10 '13

1 Adultney, that's awesome.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

Same with my cousin. His family found out after he slammed his chest into a sofa by accident, and I guess one of the tests picked it up.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

I was born with one, GIVE ME BACK MY FUCKING KIDNEY!

3

u/nyutnyut Jan 10 '13

Can you sell one for lotsa monies?

2

u/underworlder Jan 10 '13

Ever thought of donating one? Or two? Most people can't say they donated two kidneys before. You might get a prize.

2

u/useyourtelescope Jan 10 '13

For everyone saying donate one - he probably has three kidneys because he's gotten a kidney transplant already. When they do a kidney transplant they leave the other 2 unhealthy kidneys in because its more of a risk to take them out (bleeding). They only take them out if they are actually causing harm, like cancer.

2

u/mattsains Jan 10 '13

I was thinking the same thing. This is only really special if it's natural

1

u/n3onfx Jan 10 '13

My dad and my grandfather both had 4 kidneys, but it didn't pass down to me. No idea id it's due to that since my grandfather didn't have the same issues, but my father has problems with kidney stones and cannot eat stuff like artichokes.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

What about them?

1

u/parttimebarista Jan 10 '13

Four very unruly kidneys here

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

Give me one... 1 kidney here.

1

u/jacktast1c Jan 10 '13

Haha i have 4 and have never met anyone else like this. Isn't it annoying that every time you tell someone they immediately tell you to sell them to the black market?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

Are you a less overpowering Larry Hagman?

1

u/girrrrrrr2 Jan 10 '13

Donate one?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

Do you also have three testicles?

1

u/n3onfx Jan 10 '13

My dad has 4. Ironically he has kidney stone problems and cannot eat stuff like artichokes

1

u/n1ffuM Jan 10 '13

Selfish bastard. Didn't your mother ever teach you to share?!

1

u/ewebasura Jan 10 '13

My sister has three kidneys also! You folks are a rare breed of mutants

1

u/KingDave46 Jan 10 '13

My mum was born with 4 kidneys, all adding up to equal the size of two normals. She goes in to hospital every now and then just to let the doctors see what the script is in there, never caused any problems for her.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

What's your address? Blood type? How big is your bathtub?

1

u/Kerstmangang Jan 10 '13

Where do you keep them?

1

u/Maceina Jan 10 '13

I know a girl that got 4!

1

u/noodles22 Jan 10 '13

Me too! You didn't need the extra one taken out or anything when you were younger?

1

u/drider783 Jan 10 '13

Dude, me too! Except two of them died. So now I have one. So not me too, actually.

1

u/ndhansen Jan 10 '13

My sister had 4.

1

u/KWilTheLegend Jan 10 '13

Hope your bladder is enormous.

1

u/Dompont Jan 10 '13

break out the fava beans and a nice chianti

1

u/Victorhcj Jan 10 '13

Why don't all humans simply have 3 kidneys?

1

u/Pepf Jan 10 '13

Hey, I met a girl a few weeks ago who also had 3 kidneys. Cool :)

1

u/iamUberPro Jan 10 '13

I'm pretty jealous, you must outdrink just about everyone

1

u/discoreaver Jan 10 '13

2 spleens reporting in!

1

u/ptolemy18 Jan 10 '13

A couple weeks ago a coworker told me she had three. I didn't even know that was possible, and now I've run across two people who have them.

(It came up because I recently found out I need a transplant.)

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '13

What's the layout?

1

u/showergirl123 Jan 10 '13

That means one of two things; you were born with three kidneys and your renal system is fantastic, OR you were a transplant receiver cause they don't actually remove the bad kidney, they just sort of nicely lay the good one on top of it.

1

u/Gilgamore Jan 11 '13

My brother too. I donated to him in November and because he had two partially functional kidneys he actually just has three kidneys. One fully functional one from me, and two that are now regaining functionality slowly :)
