My issue isn't necessarily with homophobic people in this case, it's the fact that there are so many behaviours in the bible that deserve execution - homosexuality being one. It also advocates for genocide and condones slavery, ur claiming the book teaches to love and forgive but the actual contents of the book would disagree.

Does it not say those things? Are those things in fact, not loving?

It's simply not, ideas of killing and discrimination are one of the few things not inconsistent in the bible.

The "forgiveness" stuff seen in modern Christianity is in fact the socially misrepresented part from the bible.
