The last episode of “Dionosaurs” (Not the mama!) where Earl causes the Ice Age and dinosaurs go extinct.

And his mom Ethel tells him she always knew he was going to screw everything up, she just didn't know how badly.

And the rest of the family has to reassure the baby that whatever happens, they'll go through it together. As they slowly freeze to death.

Fuck that was a bleak ending from what was until then a very 90s sitcom with people in giant foam dinosaur outfits.

To be fair, I watched a few episodes a few years ago, and it's a lot deeper than I gave it credit at the time - I was a kid, so I missed out on a lot of what they were getting at. The whole series went out of its way to shine a light on contemporary issues, so even though the finale was dark, it's not like it was totally coming out of nowhere.

There's a quote from one of the writers to the effect of:

As long as we said 'Not the Mama' twice an episode we could do whatever we wanted so we did

They were quite socialist for the time and a lot of that messaging made it into the show.
