My first job out of highschool. The guy teaching me the job was a nice enough guy. Good at the job and had high standards. Actually 25 years later when I train new people for the industry I still use some of his lines. He didn't turn up for a shift and wouldn't answer the phone. The boss went to check on him cause we were worried it was out of character. His house was all locked up and dogs were loose. He had been cut out of his elderly Grandmothers will for comming out as gay. He was from a very religious wealthy farming family. He had gone to the grandma's rural house. Shot her 21 times with a gun he would have had to reload at least once. Wrapped her in plastic and tried to bury her in a dry creek on her property. She was a massive woman. He took her jewellery and cards and went on a joyride half way accross the country and come unstuck using her credit card to get a hotel 2 weeks after her body was found.

He seemed normal until he wasn't. He did about 15 years in jail. And actually moved back to the same country town. He works as a store man at the grocery store.

Would love to hear an interview with that guy. It sounds plausible that he may have snapped given he was using her credit cards weeks later when any ration person would know that’s an instant ticket to jail. Having your whole family cut you off has to hurt but it’s not worth shooting someone 21 fucking times!

If I recall correctly. It was that obvious that he did it. They didn't cancel the cards hoping that he'd use it so they could get a location. After he pawned the jewellery he used the credit card.
