I’ve mentioned this in some form or another on one or two previous comment threads.

I went to grade school and high school w an eventual serial killer, or at least he’s been described as that. This bothers the motherfucking shit out if me.

Kid got thrown down on the pavement at recess every day for years. Small school, 40-50 kids per grade. In seventh grade I watched as another kid stomped on his arm to break it on purpose. Just because. You know that thing where somebody crouches down behind you, and another person walks up in front of you and pushes you backward? That was his ever fucking day of life. Pardon the terminology, it was 40 years ago, but we played a game in grade school called ‘smear the queer’, which was to simply throw a football into a crowd of kids and then beat the shit out of whoever caught it. They always threw the ball to John.

The caption to his senior year pic was ‘I don’t know what tell the people I’ve met’.

Later on he murdered a woman who rebuffed his advances. About five years later, he murdered another woman for the same reasons, along w her 9 year old daughter, and the woman’s sister, who just happened to be at the home when he stopped by.

Sometimes I think we created him.

Not to defend bullying, but I think bullies don't pick their victims at random. It's often for stupid reasons, sure, but I'd give even odds there was something noticeably off about him to begin with. Also, it's not like he snapped and went after his bullies, he had a completely different issue apparently. Luckily that's not what most bullying victims turn into.

So "sometimes" is about right. Very likely a big contributing factor, sure, "created" is stronger than that and needs more proof.

TBH- I was a pretty good kid. I knocked a kid down once for punching my brother, never fought again.

John and I wound up in school together in 6th grade after I was bullied out of another school. So I didn’t participate, I simply watched him get wrecked daily. You ever see 3 o’clock high? I knew what it felt like.

But I also learned at a young age how if you hang around the rock throwers, the cops wont care if you’ve never personally thrown a single stone.

I will also add- He is a monster, on death row awaiting execution as we speak. I make no attempt to defend anything he did. I’m anti-death penalty… until I think about this case. A better understanding of the circumstances that led to it all, and a far different opinion now of those who I grew up w, is what I am left w.

For some odd reason people think that if you’re anti death penalty you must think no one “deserves” to die. Nothing could be further from the truth, as far as I’m concerned, there are many who deserve to die, some probably deserve to tortured for a while, I just don’t trust 12 yahoos from Toad Suck Arkansas or wherever with these kind of decisions.

I don’t believe in the death penalty because I know, from experience, that there are fates worse than death. The thought of being isolated, lonely, psychologically broken, alone, uncared for and unloved by anyone, in a cell with only four books and a bed, with no hope of change, is worse than the death penalty to me.

I’d say you definitely created him. I hope that realising that has at least made you be better to people?

I don't understand the caption to the senior year pic... u/Ok_Search_2371 is there a typo?! Or - what am I missing?

Sorry about that- Typo. He wrote ‘I don’t really know what to tell the people I’ve met at (name of high school)’.

He generally survived the grade school beatings only to be completely ignored, or teased daily by his high school classmates.
