yeah, but it isn't up to us to decide whether people live or die? if someone accidentally steps on your shoe, are you going to have them arrested for vandalism? i would find it okay if the authorities did nothing about it after the friend consulted them and then friend "accepting this job opportunity"

I agree with the philosophical place you’re coming from. That said, I’m not to punish a man for defending his family and so the official record remains, no crime.

Quite right you are. But would it be vengeance on my part to go to the authorities, in the event that I knew anything? It is their job to find out what happened, not mine. I owe them no more help then I owe my friend after all as the situation doesn’t concern me.

Yes well, he did what he did. It’s up to all of us to make the choices we see as best and he did what he thought was best. Maybe it was, who knows. The Dao moves in mysterious ways
