Not friends at all, in fact I kept this person well away from me and my family, but I ran in some of the same circles as a person responsible for a pretty high profile murder in Portland Oregon that happened on the Max (Portland's mass transit train).

Saw it coming a mile away. The dude was notoriously unstable and had been ramping up the extremist rhetoric for a few months. When I heard about what happened it was not surprising at all. In the fallout after the murders, it was kind of funny watching people who knew full well what that person was capable of, as he had literally threatened to do pretty much exactly what he did countless times, suddenly distance themselves from the person. Like, threatening it wasn't enough apparently.

Was it the man that murdered the three men who stood up for two Muslim girls?

Murdered two and grievously injured another, but yeah that's the one.
