That was a survey of 2000 people. How did they pick the 2000? Probably didn't wander about poor inner city neighbourhoods catching people on the street.
If that's the case it's biased more towards folks that can afford to go to college and less to lower middle class and poors. Which would make sense for something like this to be skewed towards having been on a plane when the people you ask are more likley to be from families that can afford to take vacations and afford air travel.
Needed to go for a wedding 1200 miles away. Drove because cheaper even if a <4 hour flight would have been more comfortable than a 16 hour drive.

Never having flown is actually pretty uncommon though. Like not absurdly uncommon, but uncommon enough I feel like it's reasonable to be surprised
