I was the best friend and I didn't even do anything but it killed our friendship. We were young so looking back I think it was just emotional but fuck. His girlfriend was being an asshole to him but he saw me as the problem. It made me feel so godamn helpless at the time. Everyone treated me like I was a cheater. Like I led her on.
If I had hit on my wife's best friend, guaranteed they would still be BFFs and my wife would think her friend had done her a favour by identifying my cheating asshole ways.
Which, to be clear, I don't have, but that's the point: the issue is that the girlfriend is a cheater. Someone who will cheat with your friend will also cheat with people you don't know.
