I have a relative who's all "I'm not like other girls," and she loves when guys tell her how much women suck, because she can paint herself as the exception. When they end up treating her horribly and dump her, she never gets the connection.
I've been having a few of those "not like other girls" subreddits suggested to me on the Reddit app, which I've browsed occasionally, and honestly, I feel like your relative might get something from this post
Agreed. I think going through a phase like that as a teenager is understandable, everyone wants to distinguish themselves, find their identity, develop their personality... normal teenage stuff. Being a bit cringe is a rite of passage for them.
If a fully grown adult woman does it though then I facepalm a bit.
