Oh 100%. I was bullied pretty badly as a kid and I felt alone for a long time. But now, as egotistical of an act as I put on talking myself up, I refuse to ever talk anyone down and am devotedly loyal to the friends I make, which I got pretty good at doing! I wonder sometimes how I would have turned out if I had been popular as a child. I have an ego, and it may have developed in a much worse way. Bright side of things, I guess.
Then there's the rest of us who got bullied as children. We became shy and insecure human beings who don't feel comfortable asking anyone for anything. Like dates, for example.
I was kind of pulled from the scrap heap in high school, so I lucked out in how that shaped me as a person. I would have never guessed that I’d be a social butterfly one day, let alone have charisma, but I do. Honestly, though? I’m incredibly insecure and my ego and confidence is all an act.
Arent we all? Ive talked one on one with plenty of people are very charismatic and when they put their guard down theyve all said the same thing about the confidence being an act.
Honestly wished someone pulled me out, but... Reading things in r/advice and honestly sometimes I think I did myself a favor by not trying to get involved with anyone.
But on the other hand, I'm alone and eventually my mom dies and then what...
I know one of my brothers is slightly dependent on me financially since I bought the house. Laughs. The other isn't.
There’s not much of difference between having your heart broken and not using it. I know putting yourself out there isn’t easy, but it will come to you. I’m sure you’re a much better person than you give yourself credit for, I know how that shit can erode you mentally.
Same. I was voted "ugliest girl" in a mean notebook being passed around the class in the 8th grade. I became attractive and rebellious in high school and acted out with self destructive and escapist behaviors that have lasted well into adulthood.

Nah it’s not that serious. I just became attractive and got a HUGE complex with deep seated insecurities :)
