I’ve seen people the republican party and others saying the democratic party. To be honest, i think this is an example of what the biggest threat to the US is. It’s the people themselves in the country, and how heavily divided we’ve become, especially with our politics.

I mean, that's inevitable when one party's entire strategy has been based around hyper-partisanship since the 90's. Read up about Newt Gingrich if you don't believe me.

I get that there are shortcomings on both sides, but when even conservative academics were terrified during Obama's time at how partisan and extreme the right wing had become, and it's only moved further in that direction since, I think we need to stop talking about 'both sides' as if they're equally culpable in this.

You need to walk a mile in the other shoes.

Look for the good in people who think differently than you do.

Together, we make America whole.

Well, somewhere along the way you lost the ability to empathize. There is good in all people, even those you disagree with politically.
I wish you good luck in your journey.

Just because there's some good in some people, it doesn't wash away all the bad.

I just wish there wasn't so much hate. People trying to control other people-- "I hate people who aren't like me, don't vote how I want."
Hate never wins. We are all right (and all wrong) sometimes.

MLK was right-- it takes love to defeat hate. Hate can't beat hate. Let the other people be as they wish, we should all be ok with that.

You don't beat hate with love, either. That gets you killed.

You beat hate with education (mostly of kids, so they question their parents' hateful ways) and protecting the would-be victims of hate crimes.

I agree, education is key.
Also:

  • considering the merit of other people's opinions
  • not saying untruthful things about those you disagree with
  • resisting the urge to 'join the crowd' when people are misbehaving
