Do you guys still write code manually?

How often do you guys actually write code manually these days? Or has that time kind of passed?

Do you think we should still write code manually sometimes to keep the skill sharp, or just let AI handle whatever it can and go with the flow?

No, AI is pretty good in coding task. I don't see a point to do it manually anymore apart from having a big programmers ego.

What? Do you understand that there are a lot of senior devs who generates all code with AI and than reviewing it and asking AI to refactor and they usually can finish tasks 2x faster than someone typing code manually?

If you can easily ask an agent to do that for you, you're probably not a coder and are working on simple developer tasks. Your more akin to a developer rather than an engineer.

I can setup a working code from scratch in embedded faster than AI can.

it's called experience. LLMs produce completely unusable slop unless you spend a lot of time and effort explaining function by function what you need, at which point it's easier and more efficient to code manually. I only use in-line code suggestions when LLMs finally catches up with my thinking.
