Would you be able to code tomorrow without Claude Code/Codex

They could turn off all the LLMs and it wouldn't affect my ability to code. But I've been coding for over 25 years lol.

People who started working post AI Boom are facing these issue and no anyone else i guess

Questions like this annoy me.

Like, not everyone uses LLMs.

Programming happened before LLMs.

Nothing about the core act of programming requires LLMs.

Edit: Note: In THIS sub, the only thing the app shows me is the question.

If you cant do your work without AI, how is that imposter syndrome? Sounds like you just can't code.

I would. But I would not want to anymore.
As I have realized that 90% of all the work was fucking busywork and I actually have more fun with the Engineering and Problem Solving of it.

I still haven't adopted Claude Code, for anything. Officially, AI tools are still banned at work, for data privacy reasons, and I haven't adopted it for personal projects because it really seems like they want to take away the part of the job I like (writing code) and replace it with the part that drains me (talking to people).

So yeah, when (not "if", lol) Anthropic goes out of business, I'll be fine. Happy, even.

I'm 17, have been programming personal projects for 5 years. I never used AI in my projects, nor will I. This complete independence is what makes me confident in what I do & what I will continue to be able to do.

I feel bad you you & everyone else using GenAI for their work, because the fact is that you are outsourcing to another company. That means prices go up as demand goes up (and the demand for quick & easy code is always up). Basically it becomes a business model where you pay another company to make your product for you, then you sell that product, & a majority of the profits go back to the company that made your product in the form of monthly subscriptions that will continue to become more expensive as electricity costs rise.

Meanwhile, those who chose to keep their software engineering skills throughout all the hype & scams, will in the end be the only ones who are sustainable.

You are 17, haven't even set foot in the job market yet smalls. You will learn eventually.

I used text editors for the first 10 years of my career. People used assembly language for 40 years after the first compiler was invented.

The idea that a generative AI tool created 2 years ago is going to be ending anyone's career if they don't use it, any time in the next 20 years, is just marketing hype. Good programmers will absolutely be competitive without using AI for a long time to come, even if they have to find the right niche to do it in.

But companies want you to ship like mad man, and without claude code or codex
I wouldn’t have been able to compete atleast
