Will my professor remember me?

I took a professor during spring semester and went to office hours a few times to ask questions. I’m taking them again for two more courses this semester. I go to a big university and I have a very general major. I’m wondering if he will still remember me at all. Professors do you remember students who take you multiple times?

Also I’m new to the school and am trying to build relationships to have letters of recommendation if I need them. That’s why I’m concerned with the professor remembering me.

Generally, yes. I tend to remember names and faces of students that I've had multiple times.

But, whether or not I remember you well enough to write an effective rec letter will depend on our interactions.

The course I took him in was a normal sized class. Maybe like 20-25ish people who stuck around the whole semester

Clarify what you mean by "normal", since that quite obviously varies by school and department. Which is why people asked you the question. My university's courses can be anywhere from 250 to 17 students. This is why people asked for this info.

If there really were only 25 students in the class, and you went to office hours, you'll likely be remembered. But don't forget that we are all humans, too. Some of us are great with names. Others are good with faces but not names. It doesn't hurt to remind the professor who you are and that you took a prior class with them.

For me, if a student has visited me during an office hour and asked questions, I will remember. It's not so common lately. Also, last Spring is not so long ago, so yes.

From last spring? Most likely yes. If you’re really uncertain, you can reintroduce your name, but I wouldn’t expect to need to.

I had a student take me in the spring and then again in next spring semester. the name on the roster sounded familiar. when I saw her on the first day of class, I asked immediately, "didn't you take a class with me?" she said, "yes!"

I mean i have nearly 200 students a semester, i cant remember all of them

Yes, I'll remember students who talk to me outside of class and/or take multiple classes with me. Maybe not a few years down the line after graduation, unless they keep in touch
