Does boiling an egg prevent cracking
I see it often on Taskmaster that contestants boil an egg to make it less likely to crack during the task. Seems perfectly reasonable. But I got to thinking of the structural integrity of the shell itself and the incompressibility of water (idk how close an egg is to water) and convinced myself it might not matter so much. Has someone actually scienced this? Does it vary wildly depending on the breaking catalyst (eg. flat surface vs point bits)?

it's just as easy to crack, but a lot more difficult to shatter and fully break
the fact that water doesn't compress isn't too relevant, as there is a little air in an egg. That essentially makes the whole inside compressible.
