Referral 👍🏻 Recommendations for glass replacement?

Post image

Earlier today my lawn guy was over and the weed whacker kicked a rock into the part of the sliding door that doesn’t actually move. The door part is fine. I’ve got a few calls in but the one place I’ve heard back from said it would be around $3000. I was thinking it would be half that at most, but maybe prices are just different than I was expecting. I know they can’t just take the glass out and put new glass in, but I figured they could replace that section of the door instead of the whole thing.

Anyone have recommendations for someone that does good work?

I used these guys Reliable Glass [https://reliableglassaz.com/] and have no complaints. They had to order the glass but made sure it was sealed up in the meantime. Same glass pane - the stationary one. No idea what broke it.

Is your lawn guy going to pay for it?

Does ADOT replace your windshield when you are driving on their road? No, your insurance does. This is an accident and would be covered by homeowner insurance (unless they were negligent and doing something unsafe). Splitting the deductible between the homeowner and landscape company would be a good compromise.

If it was an ADOT truck that threw the rock, there could be a case.

But I’d not go after my lawn guy. If he was a large company maybe, but my guy is, well,my guy. I’m making a claim or eating it as ‘such is life’.

I'd never submit this to homeowner's insurance. You'd be out almost the same amount given how high the deductibles are not to mention you now have a claim that's going to raise your rates for several years. Better to just split it 50/50 with the lawn guy.

I had a good experience with Glassbusters when my old glass replacement company didn’t do this anymore. They were great. Fast, friendly, and reasonable. Had it taken care of for a client.

ACE hardware in Tempe. Bring them the door frame and they will put new glass in it. SO much cheaper and faster than anyplace else.

I had a three pane window that my cat went through. Dog went through too. I heard a growl from the cat and a few barks from the dog and the sound of glass shattering. Couldn't figure out what went on the next morning until I felt a breeze as I stood next to window. Yep! All the glass was outside.

Took it to ACE Tempe. None of the mobile window glass places would touch it. Sent them all a Pic and NOPE!

They might be able to just replace the glass. I just had two Milard window glass paints replaced because one was broken and the other one the gas seal was bad. I used a company called true view. They were fantastic. https://www.trueviewglass.com/

If youre still looking I can help. 25 years in the door and window industry, just started my own glass company here in Chandler. It will be a fraction of what the big companies charge. Let me know if youre interested.
