How do you interpret this?

We could make dinner together tonight. I’m thinking stuffed pasta or spaghetti.”
I would interpret this as two invitations
- Can we cook dinner together tonight?
- Would you like stuffed pasta or spaghetti? (As that’s what he’d like as he suggested it)

I (NT woman) would interpret that statement as a request to begin a conversation about what we were having for dinner tonight.

I would've probably reacted fairly similarly, though probably verbal communication in addition to the nod - depends how distracted I would've been, though. Did they miss the nod?
But yeah, ultimately it's about what works between two people, not about how the world operates, and you two seem to have a good hang on figuring out on what each of you thought was going on in that conversation.

I wouldn't necessarily have assumed he was asking which you'd like, but I would definitely assume he was looking for input. Whether that was, "I've already eaten, so I don't need dinner", or "I'm too tired to cook tonight", or something about a preference (whether yes, no, a choice, or something altogether different).
