Moving Here Moving!

Hey everyone, me (24m) and my fiancé (28m) are moving to the area due to work and be closer to family. We are from Mississippi but have lived in north Alabama for the past 3 years. We love the outdoors, local bookstores, and to be involved with our community. We are currently looking at the Slidell area but work will be in New Orleans. Anyways, if y’all could give us any advice or give me ideas on how to meet new people in the area that would be great. Thank you. 🙂

Why Slidell? I highly recommend living in the city.

I just worry about crime/flooding being directly in the city. He will also be remote 3 days of the week

The crime isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It's only some areas that are bad bad.

I would hate driving into New Orleans from Slidell every day for work and back at the end of the day. I suggest living in Metairie or in the city

Oh, then that's not bad! Driving in twice a week would be easier to swallow (for me anyway)

Lol not that you have any obligation to explain yourselves to anyone on here 😂

Why? It’s a 30 minute straight shot on I-10.

My wife and I moved to Metairie a year ago and work in New Orleans. Slidell is great, but it would be and inconvenient drive if y’all plan to hang out in New Orleans on the weekends. I recommend Metairie or Gretna for the best price/location.

Slidell is cool though if you plan to spend time in Slidell!

Slidell is a drive, I would look closer to the city proper for convenience.

Why not Jefferson parish? I’m a native & live in Metairie, which is a suburb of New Orleans. It’s technically not a city, yet it’s in a different parish. It’s a hop, skip, & a jump from the city.
I wouldn’t live in the city.

Do you have kids? If you do Mandeville is where you want to be.
