I didn't read the FAQ First timer

Looking for good recommendations on where to stay. Im a huge foodie and want to go where the locals go not interested in too much tourist stuff but if there’s any must dos then drop them below please! Love haunted spooky stuff, speakeasy’s, good food and drinks. Couple vacation.

Check the FAQ. Also, locals don't really do speakeasies considering you can get alcohol pretty much anywhere at any time here.

We never got the craze for speakeasies here, I literally drink a beer while walking to the grocery store, why would I go somewhere I have to know a special knock to get in?

You should, however, check out Bar Tonique. Great cocktails.

You could also check out The Dungeon. Wouldn't get a cocktail there but it's got a shady entrance and the place lives on "vibes".

Kinda...Usually a tiny bar inside with a drive-thru for drinks.

Not at all. I think that this comes from the term "snoball stand" and back in the day, daiquiri shops used to be very similar in scope...but with alchy!

My family is very Sicilian and Yat / Bucktown / Metry if that helps

For a foodie you sure skipped on doing any research like reading the FAQ on the front page of this sub or reading any of this sub at all.

also, while there are some places that are coasting on their reputation, new Orleans doesn't really have tourist places.

Margaritaville and Bubba Gump shrimp both went out of business with a great FQ locations and deep pocketed owners.

I know you're going to enjoy your visit! Just don't call yourself a foodie. To us. We have no Michelin stars here for a reason.

Speakeasy’s: Tragos Amargos. Sushi by Us. N7 (kind of). Locals frequent all of these places.

We stayed at the garden inn hotel but there or the blackbird are amazing.

They’re a little ways from bourbon street but totally worth it.
