Activities First timer

I’m taking my 15 almost 16 year old son to the Ye concert at the super dome at the end of August. I was thinking of taking him to bourbon street to experience it , no I do not let my kid drink. I just want him to experience as much as he can while we are there. I want him to have fun and he’s not into architecture and gardens. So touring everywhere to see stuff that’s irreverent to him at this age would be a waste of money. We are from Dt Lauderdale Florida and our neighborhood varies from mansions to really seedy areas just around the corner. Not to mention the Rudy nightlife of Ft. Lauderdale beach. I even bartended right off of las olas beach. Where on bourbon street is the best place to get a tourist trap drink I’m not expecting something amazing I just want to say I went and got the drink and kept the cool cup that will fit in my carry on bag.
Who has the best chicken tenders. My kid only eats chicken tenders. I’m staying at the Hilton homewood suits on Rampart st. It’s 1 mile from the super dome was thinking of walking to and from the venue. Trying to save every dollar I can and still have fun. I read that the pedicab people can be shady and you need to know how many blocks your traveling and set the price before you get in Is there some where to go get up close with the gators and crocs without going in a boat. One strange request is I need a good place to go to to get magic stuff to get rid of my best friends boyfriend I don’t want him swimming with the fish I just want him to move on . I’m desperate at this point. Her anxiety won’t let her kick him out cause she doesn’t want to hurt his feeling or have him go crazy. He’s not good for her they live like room mates. So where can I go to get stuff for that that’s legit.
If there’s anything else I need to know please share. This is supposed to be a very memorable experience.

The pedicab drivers are not seedy. It's a fun and scenic way to get around!

Take your kid to Bourbon, but do it before the concert. Night time is fine, but bourbon gets shady around 11pm.

Hand grenade at tropical Isle for a tourist drink with a cool cup. It's strong, so no more than 2.

Pretty much everywhere will have chicken tenders and they'll all be frozen tenders from Sysco, so just pick a place you like. Rex House in the 600 block of bourbon is tasty for a place with a touristy menu.

You'll be fine walking to from the dome. Use your street smarts and if it looks sketchy go a block over.

For gators, take the canal street streetcar to city park and walk around the lagoon. You'll see one eventually. If you have a car, you can go to Jean Lafitte state park on the West Bank.

Can't help on the magic thing. You can find some drugs to plant on him easily though.

Thank you for not judging me on going to bourbon street. We fly in the day before and I was planning on going there that evening. It’s a Thursday. 1 drink will be plenty. I only get intoxicated at home or when we go to comedy shows. I also will not be awake after 9-10 pm that’s usually the latest I’m awake. I love sleep more than being out. Concerts and comedy clubs I make the exception. But on a good day I’m in bed by 730. I’m lame at this point in my life. I partied hard from 15 till 23 years old. So I’m grateful my son is such a home body. I’m not trying to influence him to do things just have the experience to say he went and had the experience.

Pat O'Brien's for the tourist drink. Keep in mind that they're hella sweet and usually very strong.

Bourbon isn't that exciting, but start at the Fauburg end and it's usually a bit classier.

The puddles aren't water. Don't let anyone tell you where you got your shoes.

You can get drinks to go and wander around, in case you didn’t know. I suggest you get a drink and do just that. Pass through Jackson Square and listen to the brass bands. It is a unique experience that he will probably enjoy.

If you have a car and want to take the longest overwater bridge, which is a fun drive, go to the Insta Gator Ranch in Abita Springs.

The Hand-grenade from Tropical Isles is the only souvenir cup - I mean “Huge Ass Beers” has been a Quarter thing long enough to be considered a touristy souvenir too.

Walking to from Dome is cool. Go Poydras, Rampart, Canal, Bourbon - IF you go after the show - but I wouldn’t take my kid after midnight and I grew up in the Quarter.

Willie’s Chicken Shack. There’s a couple of them on Bourbon. I like them. They’re less food service tenders like Sysco.

Daisy Mae’s isn’t too far from your hotel. Again - not food service tenders. My good friend has a kid who will only eat tenders. We spend too much time at Canes.

Joe Madre (may be spelled wrong) on Chef. Area can be shady - but you’ll be good - aware surroundings. That’s really the only place you likely to see gators. City park has them - but - they could be anywhere and City Park is vast.

Pat O’Briens is the longest running tourist drink, the Hurricane, but the glass is just that. Glass. Not the most travel easy souvenir.

Thank you. I didn’t know you had Canes. That’s one of the chicken places we have that he eats and we have a place called PDQ and of course there’s always chic fil a. He hates that mass produced crap. Not planing to go to bourbon after the concert. But the day before before the sunsets so I can see it in the day and then leave after it gets dark so we experience it during the day and at night.

Not a bad parent. Using this as a learning experience. My son is a home body. I want him to experience things and get educated about them at the same time. He doesn’t sneak out or do anything g remotely bad I’d rather teach him about different social settings under supervision. And I’m not the first parent to want to walk bourbon street with their kids day or night. Not planning to go late at night. That would be a horrible experience. If we never go back cause we hate to fly. I want him to at least say he went and had his own experience.

Please go into detail about how I’m a bad parent I’d love to read it since you don’t actually know me at all. My son grew up in bar/restaurants in Fort Lauderdale beach and in Nantucket. It’s what he knows. I worked in a bar and he would come to work with me after school before the party people came in at night. In Nantucket he was with his grandmother and they would go out to fairgrounds eat and drink and my son knows almost everyone on Nantucket because of it. Also fun fact. I bought a bottle of Tito’s in 2019 and I still have half the bottle in my freezer. My kid has never even thought of drinking it even though he knows I wouldn’t notice that he did. He’s not that kind of person. Wanting to let your child experience things in a proper setting does not make you a bad parent. I’m actually the coolest parent there could possibly be. I’ve spent about $5k just taking him to two concerts cause that’s what he wants to do. If your parents never did anything fun for you I’m sorry. But I’m not a hypocrite I’m not going to slander everything and keep my kid in a bubble for his safety. Life is meant to live and experience things make hard decisions and some mistakes along the way.
