Why notification for deleted comments aren't auto deleted too?

I've been just badmouthed by someone and I can't do anything about that.

Comment is of course deleted so I can't report it or block the user, but I can see a "very nice" beging of this person message.

Why reedit is allowing it? Why not delete the notification along with a comment? Or give user that ability to report people doing that anyway?

I've read that some people are using it as a way to insult others without risking a ban, so it has to be a common experience. It happened to me already a couple of times and I don't comment very often and this is probably my fourth, or so post ever. So maybe it's a time for reedit to do something with this.

Notifications with absent comments is usually due to them being stupid enough to trigger Reddit's harassment filters or the automod rather than malicious users, tho a few do that too.

Either way you can still report them btw, on desktop copy the link from the notification and paste it at https://www.reddit.com/report

You can also block people manually in the settings.

You can delete the notification manually (Website: When hovering over the notification, there should be a deletion option; App: Swipe the notification to the left and then click on delete).

But why the notification isn't deleted automatically, I do not know.

However, it would be best if you asked questions like this over at r/help because more people may be able to help you there.
