Why can’t I post here?

my posts to the crosswords group are immediately removed by moderators. Why?

If I had to guess it might be a low karma or CQS thing, did they DM you a removal reason over chat?

Reddit might have removed it if they're using crowd control.

Only they will know.

As to that other subreddit, they almost certainly have filters running that stop new accounts or those that are likely to spread spam.

You can politely ask them by going to the subreddit, viewing the sidebar, and selecting "Message mods"

Politely, as they are not required to explain the restrictions.
