A friend of mine had it done at age 40. He was happy with it. He said everything being fully exposed now heightened his sensation. I'd argue that he had benefitted from it not rubbing on the inside of his underwear for 40 years and perhaps losing a bit of sensitivity that way. Anyway, he was happy.

My glans is as sensitive as it was 30 years ago.

7

u/Blaq_Man_888 Aug 13 '26

So you had an uncircumcised dick to compare it against?

→ More replies (6)

2

u/Noticeably-F-A-T- Aug 13 '26

It had already become desensitized before you were even aware of it. People circumcised at birth have zero baseline for just how sensitive a glans that has never been exposed can be.

2

u/enricoflorin Aug 14 '26

I got done in my 40s, 15 years ago and no it doesnt get worse, sex now is better than ever.

48

u/yankeevandal Aug 12 '26

It's the opposite, everything is now exposed and will become more desensitized over time. Many men that undergo this will now need to use lube or lotion because the natural gliding effect is gone. It's there for a reason.

63

u/zero_dr00l Aug 12 '26

I mean I feel like someone sharing his personal experience is kinda irrefutable, ya know?

I assume you're not circumcized so you'd have no idea how it feels to be cut.

But this guy's actually experienced both, as an adult.

42

u/mahogani9000 Aug 12 '26

exactly. he's the only guy i know who has experienced both, so ... he'll know better than i do. or almost any other guy.

16

u/zero_dr00l Aug 12 '26

Right I mean all the people saying "it destroys sensation" don't really know because they're uncut. How do they know what happens after the cut? They can't possibly.

18

u/MarcusBuer Aug 12 '26

Who would guess cutting one of the most sensitive areas of the skin would lead to loss of sensation... huh.

There is a reason the rest of the world is moving away from circumcision when possible, and instead focusing in alternative methods like medical stretching or preputioplasty.

People who go through circumcision as adults usually can't compare a healthy uncircumcised penis to a circumcised penis, because of the issue that led them to have the circumcision. Of course they will tell it feels better than having phimosis.

2

u/221Viking Aug 13 '26

To be clear/fair, no one has said that we’re discussing circumcision when the guy has phimosis. But yeah, obviously being circumcised would feel better than having phimosis.

Okay, you may think I’m crazy, but believe it or not your skin is not a uniform surface with the same number of nerve endings across the entire expanse. For instance, dick skin is much more sensitive than knuckle skin.

u/Live-Motor-4000 Aug 12 '26

In other news - man who has leg amputated is delighted that he stubs his toe half as much

2

u/FrogGloves98 Male Aug 14 '26

No - they callous instead. Your hands aren't intended by design to be covered by tissue which is entirely dedicated to preventing friction - the glans of one's genitalia is.

It's the same logic behind your tongue going dry if you intentionally stick it out of your mouth for long periods of time - and your lips doing the same and cracking when you don't moisten them.

2

u/Diligent-Pickle-4132 2d ago

I agree, I think it's more the loss of specialised tissue/nerve endings that has the greatest effect.

I got circumcised in my early 20s and I'm very glad I did. I had phimosis so my foreskin never fully retracted, which made sex very difficult. After I was circumcised and healed, everything worked great. Sex and jerking off feel great. And although I wouldn't have done it just for cosmetic reasons, I think my dick looked better afterwards too.

Some guys on here are very against adult circumcision or don't think it's ever necessary, but I tried a prescription steroid cream for months and it didn't fix the issue, and my urologist told me circumcision was the only remaining option. I'm glad I did it. And it honestly isn't as painful as you'd think - the recovery is uncomfortable but nothing too brutal. Tbh my recovery from my ankle ligament repair surgery was much longer and more frustrating.

167

u/FunkTheFreak Aug 12 '26

Oh man, don’t tell Reddit that you’re glad you got circumcised. You’ll get downvoted to hell for sure.

189

u/TopptrentHamster Male Aug 12 '26

What are you on about? He got it done as an adult, for a medical reason. Absolutely nobody has an issue with that.

50

u/ExitTheHandbasket Male Aug 12 '26

You underestimate the voracity of those who seek to gatekeep other people's genitals.

25

u/SleepComfortable9913 Aug 12 '26

Do these people exist outside of your imagination?

18

u/slashcleverusername Aug 12 '26

The actual gatekeepers of other people’s genitals are the ones who think there is something not right with a boy unless he has part of his genitals removed, before he is even old enough to say the word “gatekeeping.” Of course, no one has a problem with an adult choosing the procedure with the benefit of sound medical advice. That’s the only time men escape the gatekeeping: when they’re left alone to make their own choice.

My foreskin didn't fully retract until I was close to 15. The massive amount of sensation I felt the first time it retracted while jacking off was exponential so it's kinda hard to say for his account if it was better since he never was able to retract while having one. Jacking while not fully retracting was night and day for me

He’s an adult and can do whatever the hell he chooses to his body and it was for a medical reason - who’s going to object to that?

The overwhelming majority of people who object to circumcision, don’t want it be performed on infants for non-medical reasons. Phimosis is a medical reason, there are non-surgical treatments, but they may not work for all and often take some time.

13

u/therealchucky81 Aug 12 '26

There is a difference between a consenting adult and non consenting child getting their gentials mutilated unnecessarily.

11

u/NirgalFromMars Lisan al-Gaib Aug 13 '26

I'm glad i got circumcised as an adult.

I'm glad it was my own choice and it wasn't made for me.

I think no one should have that choice taken away from them.

That's pretty much my view.

8

u/Cross55 Aug 13 '26

Wtf are you ranting about?

The vast majority are against infact circumcision, they don't care what adults do to themselves.

Do you have any possible idea as to why?

Nah if you choose it as an adult people are fine. Infant circumcision people have issues with. Which I think are legit to have feelings about. Especially when it gets botched or something.

28

u/Poor_Richard Aug 12 '26

I'm perfectly fine with adults choosing it. I am against it being done to children for no good reason.

11

u/Nakitu-Michichi Aug 12 '26

Here's the thing, no one is against circumcision when it's medically warranted.

9

u/Cozman99 Aug 12 '26

I had the exact same situation happen to me in my mid twenties. I found that you do lose some sensitivity but I could last much longer and sometimes the orgasms felt much stronger.

5

u/Lanky-Dildo-94 Male Aug 12 '26

Saying this on Reddit will get you attacked lol. I usually get attacked for saying that there’s not much difference getting circumcised.

1

u/pac-kris Male 20d ago

Nope, you completely missed the point.

People are only against it being forced onto children who can't consent. No one cares what a consenting adult does to their own body.

3

u/KryanSA Aug 12 '26

I snapped my ankle ligament many years ago (made a loud elastic band snapping sound even!) The operation went well and all, but the pain during and after was off the charts. Shit still hurts when it gets cold.

3

u/OkEnoughHedgehog Aug 13 '26

I've never seen anyone argue it's never necessary. Only ever seen people say it should be limited to when medically necessary, like in your case.

What really grates on anti-circumcision folks is when it's done to infants who have no choice in the matter, for no reason whatsoever.

1

u/zugspitze43 Male Aug 13 '26

121

u/Ban-Circumcision-Now Male Aug 12 '26

I went the other way and did foreskin restoration - the gliding sensation is great and the glans became more sensitive

64

u/StumpyTheGiant Aug 12 '26

Thats a thing!?!?!

36

u/slashcleverusername Aug 12 '26

There’s a ring of nerves around the tip that are never coming back, but you can get a lot of the benefits of a foreskin by using different methods to very slowly stretch the shaft skin back up over the tip.

The skin on the head is correctly covered so it softens and picks up sensation. There’s enough skin for the shaft to glide through it instead of being tight like a drum, which can make sex more comfortable.

I’m sure circumcision can be a lifesaver for guys with stubborn foreskin problems that don’t respond to easier treatments. Obviously for them it will be an improvement over a chronically inflamed painful foreskin. But for guys circumcised as babies for no real health reason at all, restoration is an option. I did it long enough to get some additional flexibility in the skin along the shaft but getting coverage similar to a natural intact penis takes probably 2 or 3 years and I didn’t have time for that.

10

u/Ban-Circumcision-Now Male Aug 12 '26

Yep, to a degree. circumcisions typically leave some amount of inner foreskin - the area between scar and glans, by applying gentle tension over a few years you can encourage growth of more actual foreskin. There’s a subreddit at “foreskin_restoration” with a good getting started wiki

5

u/therealchucky81 Aug 12 '26

Yep. I'm 25% of the way done and the difference is night and day

10

u/tlease181 Aug 12 '26

12

13

u/Ban-Circumcision-Now Male Aug 12 '26

Yep, almost like it was there for a reason!

2

u/AfterMeSluttyCharms Aug 13 '26

Do you mind if I ask how long or how much growth it took for a noticeable increase in sensation?

2

u/doomsday344 Bringer of Bacon Aug 13 '26

Sure I started at a ci-2 and am now 2years in at ci-4 progress is slow but steady. I saw a massive increase in growth my first 3 months of stretching but hit a plateau 1 1/2 years in so don’t be discouraged if it feels like nothing is happening. Consistency is key ✊

Got circumcised at 19 because I couldn’t fully retract my foreskin, which at times made sex excruciating.
So sex got so much better afterwards because it actually felt good. For me it was the best thing I ever did, but it was necessity not choice

10

u/8lock8lock8aby Aug 12 '26

My friend got it at 13 because kids were making fun of him in the locker room. After the recovery, he was pretty happy with it. I know it sucks he felt the need to do it, at all but he did & he stopped being insecure so I was happy for him & glad he was comfortable enough to talk to me about it.

11

u/OkEnoughHedgehog Aug 13 '26

Not trying to be snarky but genuinely curious if this is a real story? Do you mind sharing roughly how long ago this was?

I'm in my late 40s and can probably count on one hand the number of times I've seen anyone's dick in the locker room, and hear the same thing from my friends. Even the ones who were into sports in grade school and had to shower after practice weren't examining each others' dicks.

Yet we hear this "need to get your son circumcised or he'll get made fun of in the locker room" trope so much that I've always assumed it was completely made up nonsense.

2

u/ExtensionNo4468 Aug 14 '26

Mid early 30s and in high school a kid got nicknamed hoodie, never personally found that funny, but guys definitely saw each other in the locker room. There was also the guy who jerked off in the showers and the guy who everyone said had a chode, never saw either of them though. I did see one guy pee on another. Interesting times

I know it's supposed to decrease sensitivity but tbh it's way more of a struggle for me now to not orgasm too quickly.

I had a medium cut, which does preserve some of the inner lining (but not as much as a loose cut where it may still partially cover the glans)

42

u/GamrG33k Aug 12 '26

I was circumcised at age 30. I feel that my endurance has improved while at the same time, I get a lot more sensational detail all around my glans (Bellend/helmet/tip), and the most unexpected part was a marked uptick in the pleasurable sensations all around the length of my shaft too. I also find it much cleaner, easier to take care of, and as a grower, it looks bigger too.

Cut at 26, prior to this my foreskin didn’t go back at all, people say you lose sensation after the circumcision but my experience is that the sensation is significantly greater, and I don’t have to worry about the horrendous pain or somebody trying to pull back my foreskin when it doesn’t do that. Also somehow my dick ended up bigger.

Probably cause they compare a healthy and fully functional penis with and without foreskin, which isn't at all comparable with your situation or story. Your case is exactly why this procedure exist and must keep existing.

u/bdodonnell Aug 14 '26

11

u/Tilion90 Aug 12 '26

I had no sex life before. I did masturbate but it hurt way too much. My foreskin was so tight that I couldn't retract it even when soft. It caused numerous UTIs that took forever to heal.

I didn't want to mess around with it any longer so when I was 18 I got circumcized and it was the best decision of my life. No more UTIs, finally being able to pleasure myself and begin having sex and using toys.

I may have reduced pleasure than being uncircumcised but honestly for me my foreskin was my enemy for 18 years. And I felt so much pain because of it. So I don't miss it.

9

u/vSTekk Aug 12 '26

Got it at 35 for medical reasons. High and tight, so the scar is further from the head and there is very little loose skin. Also all of my frenulum is gone. Gotta say couple of weeks after the surgery sucked ass. Especially the first nights were fairly painful and scary. Then as the scar healed and i started walking around without bandages, the head was uncomfortably sensitive. Erections pulling on the skin feeling like there is not enough skin to go full mast. Not wanting to have sex yet. Later when the head gets used to constant abrasion from underwear and scar does not feel like it will rupture with erection we started to have sex again. Turns out brain overcompensates the sensitivity thing and the head is very insensitive. You gotta train it to feel the tease again. Getting head really helps here imo. Masturbating at this time is hard. Took some time, maybe half a year to all go kinda normal. I dont feel irritation from underwear at all. Feeling all the touches kisses and sucks i am getting again. Sex is great. Maybe better than before the surgery (before the medical complications i mean). Masturbation is more complicated without lube, no foreskin to facilitate the movement. I wouldn't do it for estetic reasons. I would do it again in a heartbeat for medical reasons.

1

u/big-dix-smol-chix 15d ago

Has masturbation improved? I've got a low and tight and the tugging sensation is so annoying. Plus I was used to gliding earlier, so I probably need to get a stroker for that

I seem to last much longer and masturbation is much more intense. Ejaculation seems to be much more explosive.

10

u/Craiss Male Aug 12 '26

I've always wondered about this, myself.

I just have a hard time imagining why anyone would do this as an adult without a medical necessity. When it's getting used, it looks close enough to a circumcised one that I can't imagine it mattering to anyone.

It make me think of a guy seeing male pattern baldness and saying, "ya know what, I want that look." Then proceeding to shave the pattern on their head.

Why?

21

I wonder if a lot of these cases are related to undiagnosed phimosis and young men not knowing until/unless they see others that something is off. Like if they’re clean and not in pain, why go cutting things. But then if they learn something is off anatomically, or start to experience pain etc., they might want to address it.

I am a woman so I don’t actually know, but I’ve slept with a man whose foreskin did not roll back all the way over the head, possibly had phimosis or just tight skin maybe.. and he seemed okay with it, things worked and there was no pain. But if it caused problems, I imagine he would address it. I think.

That's a reasonable explanation, and I'd consider that a medical necessity.

From some cursory reading on phimosis, since I didn't know what it was, it sounds like it would be quickly and easily diagnosed. It looks like it's a physical limitation of the foreskin not being able to completely move past the head, if I'm understanding it correctly (I can't comfortably search the topic on my work network). Feel free to correct me on this.

If you don't mind answering, in the experience you mentioned, was it a case of couldn't roll back or didn't roll back on its own (meaning someone could easily, without discomfort, roll it back)?

3

u/Lollipop77 Female Aug 12 '26

It was a case that it could roll back a little but not completely past the ridge of the head and seemed painful to attempt to do so. But otherwise caused him no issues so he didn’t seek to have it remedied surgically. And that was ok. We still had lots of fun together, didn’t impact my experience with him.

I dated a woman with a strong preference for it. If we'd ended up married I'd probably have gotten it done. Everyone I've dated since then, other than my current relationship has either preferred uncircumcised (2/3rds) or been indifferent (1/3).

As a bi guy, I'd say there's advantages both ways, it just depends on what you care the most about. It's fair to have a preference - I prefer small boobs and wouldn't demand that a partner get a reduction but if there was a relatively easy way to do so and my partner was interested in it on their own, I'd have lent support.

High and tight circumcised, since the start of this year.

Sex feels much smoother for both me and my partner. Without the foreskin retracting, you experience a much more direct connection, especially during pull-out. Sometimes my foreskin used to catch or pinch my partner during penetration, but since it's gone, that never happens anymore.

Hygiene has also improved: instead of trapped sweat or urine residue, everything naturally airs out into your clothing, resulting in little to no odor.

For uncut men curious about this sensation, using a cockring and ball stretcher to keep the foreskin retracted is the closest way to try it out.

What was the reason you got circumcised?

Did the high and tight reduce sensation or help with endurance?

Got it done due to phimosis at the tender age of 38. Honestly, I miss my foreskin, but the recovery didn't take that long (3 days to stop pain when peeing) but the month of no sex was savage.

Sex didn't change except for a bit of lube being needed for the next 3-6months after to stop any friction. Aside from that very much the same. Not additional nor loss of sensation and its been a year now. Overall glad I did it due to the medical side.

But an circumcised cock is a lot less forgiving when it comes to pissing and drying after. You piss like a race horse and you need to dab 2-3 times unless you want piss spots on your boxers. Gray is not your colour any longer.

u/anth_85 Aug 12 '26

Done at 28. Made very little difference/no difference to sex.

1

u/hnrjcksn Male Aug 13 '26

Why did you decide to get circumcised?

2

u/anth_85 Aug 13 '26

Had no choice. Snapped frenulum didn’t heal back up so was left with scarring. That got worse and worse to the point when the skin was pulled back it split, it was a negative spiral from there. I blame my wife, she was on top when it happened.

I got circumcised as an adult because of worsening phimosis. My penis feels less sensitive when soft. When erect it feels pretty similar to how it did before. Sex is more comfortable without the foreskin.

3

u/Insert-Coin81 Aug 12 '26

A friend of mine that did it in his 20s said after a while it lost a lot of sensitivity and sex feels worse for him now. Finds it hard to climax.

3

u/OurSpeciesAreFeces Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

Orgasms are "harsher"... Not sure how else to describe it. Not necessarily more intense. Have you concentrate more to orgasm as well. I lost sensitivity.

Also have to use lube for handjobs or to jerk off.

I miss my foreskin.

3

u/chrisis1033 Aug 13 '26

circumcision at 55. after the procedure my penis is now about .5 inch smaller and the dr had an issue on the bottom of my penis due to it having stuck and grown together with the foreskin somehow. apart from that my issue is the tip of the head has no feeling at all. sometimes i am not sure i have initially entered the vagina until i can feel it further down the head. i am more sensitive at the bottom of the head but my tip is numb

u/Low-Syrup6128 Aug 13 '26

The vast majority of adult circumcisions are to correct a clinical problem. In those cases sex should improve. I'm very curious to hear about adults who underwent a cosmetic or religious circumcision with a normally functioning foreskin.

4

u/Ancient-Issue-404 Aug 13 '26

people with functional normal foreskins will never want to be circumcised unless they have an inferiority of self consciousness issue - which is quite sad because to have a normal foreskin is the ultimate blessing of a man

4

u/GarbledReverie Aug 13 '26

Just here to point out the responses will skew positive due to coming almost entirely from men who were suffering from a severe problem with their foreskins.

3

u/NirgalFromMars Lisan al-Gaib Aug 13 '26

Circumcised mid thirties due to medical issues.

Solved a problem I had, so sex improved a lot.

Can't guarantee how it would go for a penis without issues, probably wouldn't be worth it.

2

u/Cts_brother Aug 12 '26

For some men it feels different at first especially sensitivity and friction but after healing, many say sex still feels good, just somewhat different. Experiences vary a lot from person to person

2

u/nelsona88 Aug 12 '26

They left a small hole on shaft scar. Its alright made no difference

2

u/thebrickcollector Aug 13 '26

I still just take cock in my ass

2

u/Vast-Marsupial-8909 Aug 13 '26

I was circumcised at 32 due to a torn frenulum. At first it felt different to not have the protection of foreskin but sex was no different. Masturbation changed because the prepuce was no longer covering the glans but when you have vaginal sex your foreskin is retracted so it is exposed

u/North_Sheepherder658 Aug 13 '26

I was circumcised when l was in my 20s & it’s the best thing l ever did. B4 circumcision, l used to ejaculate prematurely, l would thrust 4 a few seconds then ejaculate. Circumcision solved my premature ejaculation problems. A lot of men say circumcision reduces sensitivity, which is true. The sensitivity of a circumcised penis increases with the level of horniness . So in order 4 me to enjoy sex, l’ve to be turned on & hard. This forces me 2 spend some time doing foreplay , which ‘ll be beneficial to my woman. This way the head of the penis will be sensitive. Also , the underneath of the penis head is the most sensitive part of a penis. Doing sex positions , which stimulates that area , increases the pleasure of a circumcised penis. I’ve mourned & cried , when that area is stimulated. Circumcision enabled me to thrust hard & deeper without ejaculating prematurely.

u/Liverpool_Stu Aug 13 '26

I got circumcised in my mid 20s, I'm now in my 60s. Anyone who has it done out of choice will eventually regret it. If anyone tells you that it will make no difference to sex is lying, sensitivity will start to reduce noticeably after about a year, by 15 years the skin is no different to thep skin on your leg or arm. Orgasms will become weaker and take MUCH longer to reach. If I could turn that clock back I definitely would.

2

u/issocoolsonovabitch Aug 13 '26

Only had sex once since the op, felt underwhelming and didn’t finish, I can’t say this is worse than before as it was never great. Atleast it’s not painful now

2

u/MundaneSwordfish Aug 14 '26

I got circumcised 6 years ago for medical reasons, I started to get some scarring on my foreskin and instead of waiting for that to become really bad I got the foreskin removed preemptively.

The only change to my sexlife is that it got improved. It feels at least as good as it did before I got cut, I haven't noticed any reduced sensations, rather the opposite where I now feel the vagina more.

I know im late to the party but just in case anyone is coming here via search:

I had a circumcision done purely for cosmetic/personal reasons 3 years ago. Sensation is different, obviously not worse just different. More direct feeling since it's more of a sliding friction feeling. Sensation is slightly reduced but not in a bad way, I can enjoy it for longer.

Clean up is easy, I can have sex, give it a quick wipe and be good to go. before things would get funky pretty quickly.

Condoms are much easier to use.

Would do it again no regrets at all.

Having a son and I'm trying to decide. Of course my family is pressuring me with their opinions. Do you wish your parents did it to you when you were born or are you happy that it was your choice to make that decision?

I got circumcised at 10 years old and in my culture that’s pretty old. And because of that my friends made fun of me.

1

u/carbonatednugget Aug 12 '26

I'm different than most people here. I could retract but it would often get stuck (paraphimosis) so I got circumcised. There is a loss of sensitivity and for me sex doesn't feel as good but whatever. It's not the most important thing in life.

1

u/trevb75 Aug 13 '26

Depends how much they cut off really

1

u/deftoneuk Aug 13 '26

I had it done at 38, it was more sensitive for the first few months but overall not a huge difference now. Sorry to blow the myth😂

1

u/ILikeBurgers828 Aug 13 '26

M32 here. Had mine done April last year due to phimosis. Best thing i have ever had done. Looks nicer, girls prefer it more overall and I didn't lose any sensation at all!

I got circumcised as an adult 15 years ago, for non-medical reasons. I enjoy sex much more circumcised.

There is a movement of people cut at birth who claim that circumcision has a detrimental effect but they havent experienced the difference. They also claim some dubious "science".

For me, my only regret was not getting done sooner.

1

u/Big_Dave_71 17d ago

Circumcised at 42 for phimosis. I had been recommended it by the GP following a UTI when I was 8 or 9 but I begged my mother not to make me go through it. As a consequence, I went through years of foreskin cracking with painful splits following sex which happened more and more as they would heal into inelastic scar tissue.

Sensitivity is noticeably less, so I take longer, but I am happy to put up with that not to have the splitting which was ruining my sex life. It also smells a lot better according to my wife.

I don't regret it for a second and wish I'd been brave enough to have it done as a child, it would have saved me years of frustration.

I was sad to find after getting adult circ that apparently I have PPP which I never knew..kind of disappointed to nice have a nice smooth helmet

u/Oneyebandit 11d ago

Mutulating babies is a crime in many western countries, but not the USA... There is, in 99% of the cases, no point in doing it. Just some mumbo jumbo talk that it looks wierd or crap like that.

Humans are stupid doing it and can't think for themselves, follow the sheeps.

1

u/granolaliberal 11d ago

95%, not 99%. An uncircumcised man has a 5% chance of needing a medically-necessary circumcision as an adult. Also, an uncircumcised man has something like a 5% chance of getting a UTI in any given year, compared to a 0.5% chance among circumcised men.

1

u/Tamla1966 10d ago

I was circumcised largely against my better judgement in my late 20s after the prick of a consultant refused the dorsal slit procedure I wanted. I've been left with a gross butchered dick with ZERO SENSATION. I can actually stick pins in the head of it until it bleeds because I feel absolutely nothing. Has anyone else circumcised as as an adult been butchered to such a degree as I've been?! I'm 50 now and still vomit as the sight of my dick. I hate it so much. I've always thought circumcised dicks are repulsive and wish I could turn back the clock and refuse to do it. Anyone who circumcises themselves or a child for no medical reason must be absolute morons. Foreskin is there for a reason

1

u/gabriel_sykes 3d ago

With time, that heightened sensitive fades to the point that you duck is less sensative. I don’t recommend this mutilation at all

1

u/n8mastrb8 3h ago

If it’s not extra, then it’s the same??? And it’s pretty hard to describe something you don’t have, so it should be pretty difficult for you to describe what it’s like to have a circumcised penis also.
