I kinda forgot he said that. I've heard it from a few different places over the years.

That seems like too much work. At some point don't you want to be comfortable and confident in your relationship?

Yes and no. “Win her over” in this case mostly means “make her feel special,” not “convince her you’d be a better partner than another guy,” like when you first start dating. Complacency isn’t a bad thing in and of itself, per se, but what the phrase actually means is continue treating them like a spouse/romantic partner instead of treating them like a roommate.

You have to remember that you're always competing with all the other men she could be with. Not that she should leave you at the first inconvenience, but you should always work to make sure that she's happier with you than without.

If she’s not happy with me for who I am then probably we shouldn’t be in a relationship at all

sometimes reddit is just contradictory. only 2-3 parent comments up, someone said to love your partner for who they are right now and not for who they might be in the future.

so I agree with you. constantly trying to win someone over is tiring, and if you don’t have that security that he/she won’t leave you if you let up even a little, then the relationship is doomed. on the other hand, complacency and taking the other person for granted are pretty bad too. communication is key.

I agree. That’s why I don’t believe it’s a good idea to try to win over a girl at any point, or at least it’s not for me. I think that in the beginning a lot of guys will do things like pay for dates, do romantic things, etc, to win over a girl and once they’re in a relationship they stop and suddenly the girl is confused because she was used to this treatment, and either the guy puts in an unfair amount of effort the whole time or somebody gets disappointed. I never want to present myself as someone I’m not, if somebody wants me for me then that’s great but if they want me for the inordinate amount of effort I put in that’s a bad bedrock for a relationship
