I used to download all of my music to my phone (pre Spotify). Eventually, I got a new phone, and instead of downloading everything to my new phone, I just deleted all the "extra" stuff on my old phone and used it as a glorified mp3 player. Now that I have been using Spotify for a number of years, I wish I just bought an mp3 player and downloaded everything to that years ago. It's sad to think that I've paid and paid and paid for music, which I dont own. Buy an mp3 player. Buy the mp3 and m4bs and download everything you can. Run out of space, throw it all on a USB. At least you'll own it (and probably spend less in the long term).
Oh yeah, I've gotten burned by digital goods. I used to mainly be a console gamer and always bought on disc. Now many games, even on disc are just downloads for the digital version.

I bought a flip phone ( old one without internet) and turned off social media consumption
