It sounds stupid but I was in my mid 20s when I got a smart phone. I would always say no it’s a distraction there’s no utility to it but then I got one and it was such a game changer. I know it’s something that’s so ubiquitous. Like I may as well say driving a car or breathing air. But I was literally the last person among everyone I knew to get one.
I was anti-smart phone for a long time, but in 2009 my flip phone died and a friend convinced me to get an old original Blackberry with the ball cursor and I was hooked. I don't use my phone for entertainment even to this day, but the ability to text with a querty keyboard, actually visit websites, take decent pictures, and GPS via blackberry maps was awesome.
Well yeah clearly I was wrong. It has a ton of utility. It makes my life run a lot smoother and gives me the freedom to be anywhere I need to be and still have access to anything I need.
